Hi
I purchased a new Wii for my daughter for Christmas, and All I could think of was to hack it before the big day, and thanks to your post here on how too I believe I have succeed. I have spent the past 2 weeks reading and downloading only to hit a wall and not be able to finish. After reading the how to here I can say I think I have it. I just need to prove I can load backups from hard disk and I will be finished. I do have a quick question, I have a fit with the preloader and would like to know if it can be uninstalled? It is going to drive my daughter nuts as it loads first and sometimes hangs and can't get to the main menu. If it is possiable to remove I could use some help. Thanks for the great guide, was the best thing that happened to me all week.

1) Priiloader has the option to uninstall

2) If you bothered looking at the settings in priiloader (and even the older preloader), you'd see the option to autoboot the system menu. Setting that would make priiloader transparent to your daughter.

first, u can change the preloader options to autoboot to the system menu. If you could not install bootmii as boot2 and only as an IOS, I recommend having priiloader as some kind of brick protection (also, priiloader is the latest version of preloader, notice the spelling), you can upgrade your current preloader to priiloader, just google for it.

if u still decide to uninstall preloader, u can use the uninstaller (included w/ priiloader), or you can reinstall your system menu using wad manager (download and pack the wad using nus downloader, be sure to get the right version and region). To remove all traces of preloader, u can use "nand clean" after reinstalling your system menu.

check out this topic for some cool priiloader applications

I did look at options and saved settings to load system menu but it did not work, Sorry for stupid questions and I am sure you all have seen this same question before. So I guess I will have another look at the settings and see if I can get it to save, and keep preloader. I have been trying to find version 3.0 as I understand it has more functions then 2.9. Thanks
I should have also mentioned I am working with 4.0 U menu, This machine has never had a game disk in it yet!

If you want to make it even easier for your kids, if you're using a hard drive to run your games, after installing them all and what not, you can have preloader autoboot your USB Loader directly as well by installing the .dol for it as a file in preloader and then having it autoboot file.

Then your Wii will go straight to your list of games in your loader and all you would have to do is pick one and go.

And if you need to get back to the system menu for anything else, you can set the return to: to system menu and just exit the USB Loader accordingly (I think some of them have Wiilike home menus where you can go straight to the system menu when you click it after pressing home.)

Some loaders also have some parental controls and such so you can keep them from changing certain things with the loader settings and what not.
