Sounds pretty science-fictional, but it's actually not very hard to understand the concept.

All I can say is damn, because one of these discs has more capacity than most hard drives.

It said its possible to go 10TB and be as cheap as .05AU. Holy crap!!!! They said the write speeds are slow though. Hopefully they can fix that and it will hit the market.

They weren't really behind on the Gamecube, though they were using the mini discs which only had 1.4GB compared to 4.7/9.4GB full size DVDs.
But yes, they are behind. It would be cool if they used this though.

The problem is being scratch resistant and so forth, just a smidgen of a scratch would be catastrophic on media like this. Although the concept is awesome, we'd need to go back to them coming in caddies like MiniDiscs.

But that disc shows how much 'stuff' you can store on it. I won't be surprise if games in the future are going to be like movies. I'm looking at you MGS4!

Good in theory but I would be more impressed with solid state reaching that size.

Read about this a while ago, sounds like an interesting concept.

I read about this a couple days ago. Seems like externals will become obsolete if this hits the market.

This could be very good news for gamers, games with higher detail and more content
