There's been loads of concept art, of different DS designs, floating around the net for a while now ... a story like that was bound to appear.

I don't know whether I'd like this to be true or not, really.
It might not be a redesign, it could actually be the next console [IMG]
If it is a redesign, or a successor that plays DS games at all, then I hope flashcarts work!

I don't think there will be a new DS...but I'm sure all Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo have a smash hit planned.

Here's hoping for a new Zelda.

Didn't Nintendo say that Twilight Princess would be the last Zelda of it's kind (for home consoles)?
For all we know Zelda may be going downhill [IMG]

But for this new DS thing, I wanna oval shaped DS [IMG]

WTF? Zelda going downhill? Source? I would be very heartbroken to see it gone on the home consoles. Twilight Princess was a truly epic experience. I was hoping for a more challenging epic experience.

God no. Me loves ninty's square consoles.
It could be true, the GBA got 2 redesigns while the DS has only gotten one so far.

It was meant that there won't be a Zelda that is like Twighlight Princess, there'll obviously be another on a home console, Nintendo aren't stupid to let go of a cash cow so easily.

Anyone thinking that this (if true) is the follow up to the DS would be mistaken, the DS is still doing very very well Worldwide. All we'll see is maybe a redesign until maybe next year at the earliest.

So some speculation on this redesign:
GBA slot will still be there, Nintendo will still be using it for various games (including the Face Training game that's to come out in Europe this year) plus so are other companies like Taito with their paddle & Activision with the Guitar Hero add-on.
    Better d-pad.
Maybe a little more memory for storage purposes DSWare, VC, storing more than one demo, though that card thing will be used for this.
    Less power consumption.
    May be lighter.
    Better speakers.
Better hinges, maybe a more stable build.
A touchscreen that won't suck in crumbs so you have to take it apart.

Might be nice, but Nintendo still profits a lot from the Lite so would this one be really necessary? I think I'm gonna stick to my phat anyway heh.

    I just had a thought.
Could this fit in with Nintendo's 2 year plan?

    Their what? lol

But personally I'd like this to be a new console. DS has had a nice 4 years and it's time to move on.
Hopefully the next console will be:

1 screen (only 1 is needed really)
Touchscreen (like DS but on the one screen)
    Same buttons
    PSP-Style Analogue stick
    Much better graphics

...So basically a PSP with touch screen [IMG]

    Over there.
No, watch them make one that's all touch, like iPod touch.
