Interesting! Lets see if they hold on to their promise better today.

Well, I still can't get the point of a re-rating before the release of this announced firmware update. IMMO it seems you started it "forced" by the "complainers", most of which are not DS-X users.

You don't see the lack of updates as something bad then.

Personally, I am incredibly annoyed by such things (e.g. that the Tony Hawk DJ doesn't work on the M3/G6/SC/EZIV etc.). Might as well start considering to re-rate those products too

"Lack" of updates?

The DS X has only been out for two weeks! WTH?

Two weeks are two weeks too much

You expect to much. I'd really enjoy seeing you try to update some firmware and get it out in two weeks.

They are paid professionals. I believe the DS-Xtreme's buyers are entitled to some good customer support, other than lies saying we'll fix it today or tomorrow.

Edit: Just realized the quote box is getting out of hand.

When did they ever say that they would fix it "today or tomorrow"?

You seriously think that two week is a long time? When was the last update for EZ Flash?

Considering this update fixes alot of issues/problems, it's worth the wait.

But, I suppose by your logic, scientists are paid professionals too, and we need them to snap their fingers to get a cure for AIDS out on the table.

Patience, is a virtue.

Oh I took it from Mr. Board administrator, Costello. You can find it in full earlier in this thread if you read a little bit.

Oh and also the DSX team have told us "we're releasing the firmware today or tomorrow" for *DAYS* but have always delayed it! I really wonder what takes them so long (that they won't tell us) are they adding new things? are they fixing every single issue?
Anyway, we'd seriously be lucky to have the update today. They've been doing such promises for ages. But still no new firmware!
Really makes you wonder...

You're right in that scientists need to get their job done; although they are working with perhaps the most complex thing on earth, something a DS flash cart is not.

As you could see in the opening post they have already fixed several games, who knows when they did this? Maybe the day after release even? I would rather see they offered a small firmware update for that than have to wait several weeks for them to be released with new, actually unimportant, features. Or could it be that the new features will change the world of flash cart gaming as we know it? I highly doubt it.

Strange, I don't get any hiccups in Dawn of Sorrow. I played it all the way through. I do notice that when I save there is a graphical glich at the top of the screen. Kinda like a blip, is this normal or is it a bug too?

Well, even though you are the customer, you really don't always get what you want.

I'd rather a company send something out that's quality, not quantity. In regards to Costello's post, (which I read, nice of you to patronize me though) did you ever consider that just before launch of the new update, something was found that needed to be fixed?

I don't see any flash cart company fixing issues separately and sending out daily updates, but of course, I'm waiting for your flash card solution because you know, you're an expert at firmware after all.

Oh, and over at the DS-X forum, it was stated by DS-X Guru (a mod at the forum) that they'd rather get it all done in one shot, as even Costello seemed to take into consideration (read: are they fixing every single issue?) instead of just putting out half-arsed "solutions" that acutally cause more problems than they resolve.

But, that's me. I'm not here to sway anyone's opinion, and my opinion is that DS-X promised nothing in the new firmware update, and yet delivered more than what was expected.

Now, if they resolved the issue with using the M3, I'd be set.

Yeah, the gfx glitches when saving are a bug, but that's not too bad. In some rooms however, when you just walk in one direction you notice the background stuttering, whereas this goes smooth in other places. The room I remember is the underwater one in the southwest corner of the map with the weird creatures attached to some tube are. Also some in the northeast of the castle.

Amen to that then. Lets see if this update holds such quality that they manage to fix it all in one shot.

The meaning of quality can be discussed though, seeing as I'd view it as better quality support to be quick with solutions, than to have a quantitative based update including all accumulated fixes up to a point where many customers have had to wait for a long time (yes I insist that 2 & ½ weeks are long). But, if they could PROMISE to fix it all (as was done by DS-X Guru) and then deliver on this promise, then I am willing to say that the support is, indeed, good.

I know some flash cart companies are incredibly slow with updates but, with for example Supercard, you can rely on that they will eventually come. So far we have not seen how well DS-X team will be doing here seeing as they have yet to deliver their first official update.

And, CS, thanks for patronizing me back, didn't actually mean to offend you in the first place.

Eh, I do apologize for returning the "favor." I just got a bit carried away, and again I do apologize for that.

But, I have high hopes for this cart, though I don't own one myself. Personally, I'm waiting for the larger storage solution, but that's another can of worms I won't open.

ComicBookDS will never work on DS-X, unless it's author implements a FAT driver.

lol thats what everyone said when dsx came out... but aparently no homebrew needed ay fatlib
dsx team said fatlib will be released tho, but its not needed (except maybe 1-2 apps that are a bit more complex)

but I think theyve done an amazing job on running fat based homebrew without the author needing to include any dsx libs

I know what I'm talking about.
wink2.gif

The reason most of the homebrew works fine is one - they used the same registers as MagicKey 3 and therefore made DS-X instantly compatible with most od the homebrew (since the drivers for MK3 are already in Chishm's FAT library). There's no magic here.
On the other hand, ComicBookDS is using GBFS, which has to be loaded in GBA cartridge's RAM (which doesn't exist in DS-X at all), therefore making it impossible for any slot-1 adapter to run it). Unless the author of this app decides to use FAT instead GBFS, it will never, ever work on this device.

There's a rule, that's true most of the time. If a homebrew application is compatible with GBAmp, it's also compatible with DS-X. If it doesn't work on GBAmp, it won't work on DS-X either.

Nice, but now Worms: Open Warefare works, can you tell if the Single Cart Download Play of it also works?
And no problems with Pokémon saving either? Since there was rumored to be to little EEPROM or something for big saves?
Too bad about some of the remaining Download Play problems, I hope they'll fix them in a next update. But it's not many games so it doesn't matter that much to me anyway.
