Is there going to be a big castle or is it oldschool castlevania like back in the days?

I`m asking because of the mapscreen... It`s like choosing levels [IMG]

It'll be like the other DS Castlevanias with some key differences. Yes there will be a huge castle to explore, but this time you get to branch out of the castle to a town and surrounding forests/places. It'll have a different weapon system which I'm too tired to explain (someone else do it please). It's not in the classic stage/level design. The game is open ended and lets you explore anywhere you can reach.

    Symphony of the Night style!

Oh so it is something like the portraits in the last one, am I right? As long as a big castle is still included I`m in [IMG]

The weapons are pretty cool. I think it was a pretty good idea, to have three weapons equipped at ones. Maybe we will be able to do real combo attacks with the weapons on each hand. I think he did on the video at some point. Lets see, what we`ll be able to eqip on her back [IMG]

Yup, that's Castlevania, all right. [IMG] I'll play it, I'm sure I'll get some enjoyment out of it, but I think it's starting to wear thin. I'm ready for this series to move into 3D. Not necessarily out of the side-scrolling perspective, but that 2D art has been recycled so much already.

Thank you for posting this. That is definitely Castlevania, and I will never wear thin from playing this series. I've been loving everything about this series for over twenty years now.

Castlevania has always had kick ass backgrounds, and this one seems like no exception. Plus the animation looks pretty amazing. Exceptionally Shanoa's. I was reading in NP that they spent a ton of time on just the animation of her skirt.

Considering we didn't get a Castlevania last year on the DS, I'm expecting more from this one since they had more time to develop it.

    Can't freakin' wait.

Hopefully even though I still managed to get through Portrait of Ruin on a 2GB Sandisk.

This game, if it's anything like past Castlevanias, is more than good enough to warrant a purchase.

I'm loving the quality on the new parallax backgrounds. (Though I was expecting the trees/forest at the entrance of the Monastery to move too. :/)
EDIT: Also hurray for a new protagonist almost as sexy as Alucard.

Believe me, you don't want to play 3D Castlevanias, I just tried Curse of Darkness a week ago and I'm in a pain that I quickly traded the game.

It will feel like playing a game with real Mario featured. The game maybe good, but it won't feel right.

I agree. Hopefully the rumored Castlevania for Wii will stick to 2D. (With high-res sprites ala Guilty Gear? Oh I wish.)
