Just wanted to post that IGN has update with a ton of new Black Sigil screens. This game is supposedly coming out on March 17. No clue if that date will stick however, seeing as it's been receiving continuous delays for a year now. Anyways, enjoy the fun-looking Chrono-like RPG in the screens on IGN.

Pretty bad graphics. And the interface looks clunky and unintuitive as hell. Yet I'm compelled to play this...

Why do we want to play the? Nostalgia and the fact that it brings back memories which is the reason I'll play it despite the graphics. The interface is mostly the problem though.

For me its a rare chance to play a none Japanese developed RPG on the DS. Nothing to do with nostalgia.

The graphics here are gorgeous 2D pixel art. If you think they suck, maybe 2D just isn't your thing.

I'm playing this because I think it'll be fun. Nostalgia is part of that, but as you can see, this game is new. I don't know what to expect, and that's why it's such an appealing game. I could use the nostalgia bash to destroy the Retro Game Challenge, but I won't because it's an awesome game on its own. Same should be true of this one.

If by "gorgeous 2D pixel art" you mean "sloppily drawn tiles", then yes, you're spot on (referring to the landscape of course).
The whole thing just feels odd, like it was made by amateurs. Looks like an RPGmaker-made game.
However, since these guys are claiming you're able to make an effective party of 4 out of any of the 8 characters, and tactical gameplay being important, who am I to not play this?

Well, if you diss the game due to its graphics, fine. Just know that the best RPG's ever made have used pixel art like this. The art is beautiful, so I'm sorry if you can't appreciate it. I'd expect even younger gamers to see the charm.

You do.....

And to above, the graphics have their charm, but to call it gorgeous 2D art is going way to far. It might've been gorgeous in 1994, but anno 2009 it's dated. Charming, but dated.

I prefer good pixel art to 3D any day of the week. Oh well, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder/to each his own.

ONTOPIC:
I do hope this game doesn't get canceled or delayed indefinitely. Also wondering how well-executed the fully-customisable 8th party member will turn out.

The game isn't going to be cancelled, it has been completed MONTHS ago. it's been in the publisher's hands for a long long long time.

EDIT:

A long long long long time

I'm waiting for Project Exile. Since they have a publisher, and it's almost certain it will come out Q1 2008~!

Was I ever so wrong....

oh yeah also DLSS is a pretty solid reason to go nvidia since fidelityfx is kinda crap
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
and now with the rtx video upscaling, and sdr->hdr conversion, even more reason to go nvidia
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
both of which work well in potplayer

amd is a bit cheaper though
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Cheaper and they are less stingy with the RAM not a big issue now but I can imagine in a yard or two things might be different
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Year not yard lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the vram is one advantage when it comes to AI but ends up being slower even with that and really AI is the only use case that needs more than 12gb vram right now
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Interesting lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think I watched a video where two games at 4K where eating just over 16GB of RAM and it's the one case where the 7900XT and XTX pulled ahead (minus RTX of course)
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So my opinion is that they could age a bit better in the future, and maybe AMD will continue improving them via drivers like they tend to do. No guarantee there but they have done it in the past. Just a feeling I have.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
cyberpunk at 4k without DLSS/fidelityfx *might* exceed 12gb
    +1
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but that game barely runs at native 4k
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think it was some newer games and probably poorly optimized PS4 or PS5 ports
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
they definitely will age better but i feel dlss might outweigh that since it looks about as good as native resolution and much less demanding
    +1

When I played Cyberpunk on my old 2080 Ti it sucked lol
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
AMD could introduce something comparable to DLSS but nvidia's got a lot more experience with that
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
least amd 7xxx has tensor cores which the previous generations didn't so there is the potential for AI upscaling
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
They have FSR or whatever it's called and yeah it's still not great
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so AMD seem to finally be starting to take AI seriously
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Oh yeah those new 8000 CPUs have AI cores built in that's interesting
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Maybe they plan on offloading to the CPU?
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Would be kinda cool to have the CPU and GPU working in random more
