Also, when downloading roms for the SKY3DS they can not be modified in any way. No rom hacks, no region free roms, etc..

Welp, there goes the second reason why I bought a Sky3DS...

Also, now I have to remove that ".3ds" from there cause I just noticed that it labeled it as ".3ds.bad" now.

In the homebrew starter kit there is a program called HANS. You can use that for rom hacks. I've never really used it but I'm sure with google you can get it to work.

Dammit! I thought the ROM was screwed up, so I just deleted it. I probably could have experimented with that. Took me a whole hour to download the ROM, too.

The ROM still has to be clean but download the patched files and put them on your 3ds SD card to use with HANS.

Take some time and read up on it.

HANS still feels a bit complicated to use. I can not find any video tutorials on it.

Basically you need to find the patches for the game which are "RomFS" files. Those get placed on the sd card in your 3ds and then you hold L while booting the game in HANS. You might be able to find the RomFS files on the iso sites.

As the title and year apply, I wanted this thread to specifically aid those that are looking for a solution as much as I am and it will be an easier snag for them when they Google it.

Anyway, I want to get Sky3DS+ simply for the purpose of region unlocking. I disposed of my other one a while back cause, well, it became outdated. Now, I want it again so that I can play one of my favorite games from one of my favorite series that is unfortunately an import title.

I wanted to use NINJHAX, but it is just as expensive, actually more, than that of a Sky3DS+ and a MicroSD included, even. I heard Ocarina of Time has an exploit now, but I am mixed about that. What I want to know is if there are any similar to the (now defunct) tubehax or maybe another simple browserhax one.

I really do want to play that game again and miss being able to do so. What's the easiest method I can do in order to region unlock my device? Yes, I believe it does have the most current firmware, but I did hear that Sky3DS+ no longer uses the complex "disk write" process, or whatever it was called, and simplified it. I also hear that it is capable of withstanding firmware updates a lot now, too.

1. download CN of YOUR REGION(of the console)
2. write it to your sky
3. do the NinjHax 2(just google it)
4. press "region free"
5. profit

2. who haven't heard about HANS? but, if you wanna just region free play, use the "REGION 4". easier, faster.

Since you couldn't even read the posts on this page I'll sum it up.

He has region free working through his sky3ds but he wants to use rom hacks. As far as I know HANS is the only way but I have never done it. Do you know how to run rom hack through HANS?

1. I dont know how to use HANS, but there are plenty of tuts on the net. even on smea's twitter IIRC.
2. I number my qwestions or answers, to make it easier to understand where one ends and the next starts. so I dont number lines, only points.
