So I'm sick of not using a rear plate cover to access my microSD card because sometimes the battery gets a little loose and I'm afraid I might lose it + it just looks unsightly playing without the rear plate. SO I was thinking about cutting a rectangular shape out of my cover plate to have easy access to my SD card. Anyone have experience with cutting hard plastic? What tools would I need for a clean cut?

I did this and all it took was a good pair of scissors.

Keep in mind I did this with the ACNL bundle with it's horrible looking kiddy faceplates. Probably wouldn't do this with an XL or Poke GB bundle.

I had this exact same problem! I used a mini saw to do mine, it looks like it is actually supposed to be there (after I touched it up ofc, I can provide a picture of it if you want to see how I did it as well)

Why not use neodymium magnets where the screwholes are. I think the 3ds uses modern hardware and shouldn't be affected by them. Just double check. Cleanest option though.

I just clip the backplate in and do not fasten the screws. Holds tight enough.
