Today i got my Nintendo 3ds togethor with Super Mario 3ds land. love it. yay

So i was wondering a few questions regarding 3DS flashcard and roms.

1. What Flashcard is the best one to buy to run DS games and if possible GBA games "perfectly".
( i have updated my 3ds to the latest version)

2. Are there any dangers to using a flashcard on my 3ds , can it brick?

3. Will the flashcards for 3ds run all DS games? will saving work etc. Is it pretty much the same as with the DS?

4.Were can I get such a flashcard and what type and size of memory will it need?

5. Is there any guide that is easy to follow, need help with the entire process of adding roms etc, kernel update...?

:)

1 - There is no cart that plays GBA games perfectly on the DSi or 3DS. As for DS games, the DSTwo is the best.

2 - No 3DS has ever been bricked from a flash cart.

3 - Yes.

4 - http://gbatemp.net/t290097-which-flash-cart-should-i-get
The Acekard 2i, R4i Gold, or DStwo will work on the 3DS.

5 - It's different per cart, but there are guides for them.

If you want to play gba games on a ds, then you are better off just getting a ds lite and purchasing a flashcart and a 3-1 memory expansion

DSTwo is the best, but it ain't wort it.

Acekard 2i is very good and cheap.
I wouldn't buy a clone flashcart like any r4 clones.

The big difference between DSTwo to others is GBA and SNES emulation.
None of these emulations are really good, they're the best we can have for DS, but that's how I said.

The only thing that kept me away from buying the Acekard is the contact issues the flashcart has, the team needs to fix this problem instead of being lazy about it plus the Acekard team are no longer like they used to be, I mean look at the last 3DS update and this DSi update, they were the last team to release a fix, so if I were you, I'd go with R4i Gold from this site r4ids.cn.

Real-time save, slow-motion, the ability to pull up walkthroughs in-game, the ability to search for and toggle cheats in-game, "clean mode"...

These are all advantages that have nothing to do with SNES/GBA.

I know all of these advantages, I had a DSTwo.
But really, these functions aren't really necessary.
I never used any of these.

DSTwo is the best, that's true, but I don't see all these advantages worth the difference between it's price and an Acekard 2i price.

I've never had any problem with contact issues.
They were waiting for the 3DS update to release the new firmware update, that's why they didn't release it earlier

The SCDS2's GBA emulator is pretty good, works well for most games I tried. The SNES emulator however has a bunch of problems though. Overall it's still a great cart though.

VMM, this thread is not about you, it's about the OP. We should give the OP the info and let them come to a conclusion on which to purchase. Just because you don;'t use features doesn't mean they're not there and nobody else will use them.

Contact issues with the AK2i are so common there's a guide on fixing them (which was stickied).
http://gbatemp.net/topic/231412-solving-acekard-contact-issues/

However whether the contact issue affects you or not may depend on your system since some systems fit carts differently than others (for example the DSi's slot being a bit thinner than the Lite's).
