Yay Zelda...Link doesn't look all squashed down, I'm thinking Nintendo might have modified/customised the emu to each game for these Famicom releases...I dunno.

Hmm... weird; Zelda can be truncated down to 98kb and from what I've played so far the thing actually works. Strange considering the original game alone was on a 128kb cart.

Also off topic but I can't be bothered to post in the other thread, Star Soldier can be trunacted down to 71.6kb, making it the smallest Famicom Mini release yet.

Oh and BTW what actual size chips are used in these carts?...The first few games were listed as 32mb and now these ones are listed as 8mb...even that could be an overdump considering all of the games can trunacted to well below 256kb. Meh...

*Sigh* Where's Pacman?

This one does work on emulators
Lol, yeah you're right! Comes up with a message at the start though...doesn't happen on hardware, meh. Also the L+R menu won't work on VBA.

So does Star Soldier....I think it's more than a coincidence that these two could be trimmed down more than the others...I think that some of the rom on the other games is simply protection of whatever description. Would be great if it could be removed...

the sound is very good and the sprite is unstreched, this is probably the best famicom mini release I've seen. Although the L+R button menu seems gone when trying it on the emu, hope it appears on hardware. (I really would like to be able to send this to others to try).

Yes the L+R menu works on hardware.

Oh and English releases would be cool, though Nintendo hasn't mentioned anything on the matter.

The bottom one is hibernate and one of the middle ones is send to an attached gameboy.
There is some save that I can't seem to load... I wish I read japanese.

How do you save in this game?
When you die, you can choose to save, but even when I save-patched this rom, my save gets lost once the power is off.
What save type do you need to use for save-patching this thing?
