this plays just like a bog standard puzzle game, which leaves me puzzled as to why it warrants being so big!! [IMG]

I really hope not, I just dont get it. I mean, this game is the same size as Ocarina Of Time on the N64, and just look at it. Strange times!!

As someone said in the other thread, it is loaded with full length voice samples and minigames as well as a demo for a full tennis game. So, I'm not surprised really. I actually kind of like the game and am also glad it is Japanese, because the thought of all the English voice they would have in there is unbearable when you think of all the corny Mario voice Nintendo has put in their titles. It gets old quickly. Plus, the Japanese language just sounds cool.

KotaInka's right about how sound samples would take up most of the capacity. Remember how the GetBackers game went from 64MBit to 128MBit because of all the extra sound samples it had in Jagan Fuuin? Well, that's what's happening here too.

If this kind of game becomes popular with the Japanese, I think we can expect a few more games of this size in future.

Anyway, not interested in "Prince of Tennis" [IMG]

    - Edit -

This game definitely has a lot of sound samples. Practically full dialogues at each school and they're crisp sharp too! No wonder they take up so much space! The Prince of Tennis characters must be really popular to include them at this quality. Same for most of the image scenes.

Holy ****, a puzzle game being the record breaker, never saw it coming...

I'd figured it'd be the newest Zelda game.

Has anybody else got to the Rhythm Rhythm Revolution game? It's after you solve all of those scrambled picture puzzles. It seems like its going to be a pain in the butt to play with the keyboard. I might have to break out my PS2 controller.

In any event, this game is packed with mini-game goodness, if you could even call them mini-games. Each "mini" game seems like it could be its own lengthy game. I'm really enjoying it so far. [IMG]

Do you really need to understand Japanese text in this game, or is it just as playable? [IMG] I have it downloaded, but I'm currently addicted to Klonoa, so... [IMG]

Not from what I've seen so far. There could be some that offers hints, but I finished the first 3 games and opened up the next 2 games without having to know it.

BTW Opium, I told you there would be a 256 Mb game. [IMG] As the GBA reaches the end of its life cycle, the games are going to push size and quality limits. Its just a historical fact.

I can't believe that the first 256 mbits game is actually a puzzle game. Puzzle games are usually 32 mbits.

Sure, it's a puzzle game, but you just have to see it and hear it to understand. The 100 tennis players game has rotating images for the court background as opposed to normal turf and it looks really cool. Of course, much of it is music and speech.

I tip my hat to you [IMG]
I knew 256mbit games were possible on the gba but I never thought anyone would actually use a 256mbit cart because it would cost a lot of money to manufacture. If they decided to make this game 256mbit, then in Japan they must have very high expectations of this game. They'd need it to sell well to make up for the costs.
    Only in Japan [IMG]

It's a shame they use this genre for the first 256 mb game. It would have been cool if they made the first 256mb game a real visual treat, like some sort of Wario Ware but with much more visual an aural improvements!
