Heya peoples. I just got around to doing this finally. I made a code to skip through those screen transitions that keep you from advancing through the game when playing on VBA.

You enter this code into the codebreaker section of cheats in VBA:

Press Select during transitions to advance forward
D0000020 0004
320039F0 0001
*When one of those black fade-out transitions occurs and stops the game from advancing, just press select with this code on, and you'll skip right past it!

Also, if you're going into another area it might stay black after the transition, and even when you are able to walk around in that other area. If that happens, just press select again to get into your select menu, and then exit, and it'll be normal!

I tried that code and it's works just like you said. Unfortunately enough, there are places/events that prevents you from opening the menu and that make the black transition stays even when you press select.
Not perfect but, at least, the code does works and make the game playable on the VBA. Thanks for that, radical dreamer.

I know whatCHA mean. I'll see if I can do anything about the lingering black screen on the map and stuff, but I kinda doubt I can find something to get rid of it..

*Later*

Yeah, I was right, and the only code I could find that gets rid of the blackness in the transition scenes also closes VBA.

hey.i'm in the woodlands.can some body tell me what should i do after i got the rubber band?i've got clingie.
Sorry, I forgot about your post.
If you got the rubber band then go to the swamp to the left of Wildwoods to find Spat across it. Heyhoo him to get his attention and he'll throw you a stick. Take both the rubber band and the stick to the inventor to the right of the village and he'll make a slingshot for you. Back outside, you'll be attacked by the slingshot hamster. Learn the Ham-chat word from him and use it against him. Go back to Spat and use the same Ham-chat word to defeat him.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
