I have been using Nero since 1999 but with the Version 8 I have had enough. It is bloated with stuff I do not use and now it will not recognize my CD-R's even though they used to work and the same discs work with the windows built in burning program. I need an alternative that will burn data CD/DVD and also Audio CD disks from MP3 files.

i stopped using it for the same reason, i now use ashampoo burning studio 7, it's much more smaller in filesize and does the exact same thing as nero when it comes to burning.

Imgburn seconded - lightweight, free. Not the easiest thing to use but it gets the job done.

I second both imgburn and cdburner xp [IMG]

I use both of them and both are excellent. CDBurner XP has a very similar interface to Nero for managing files you are going to burn onto a disc.

It can , data discs can be created in build mode , select build mode , feed it the files and out pops a nice iso for you to burn. Audio discs can be done as well

Not sure if it will convert though or if you have to give it the correct format.
