    NEO Flash
A few days after we broke the news here on GBAtemp, today we are happy to announce a new partnership; between GBAtemp and NeoFlash! I guess you've already noticed the new logo on the front page...
    • So what is exactly NeoFlash? It is the first Nintendo DS flash kit!
It comes with the following features:
    • Memory size from 512 Mbit to 1 Gbit
    • Supports NDS cart save
    • With Magic Key technology
    • Directly support TXT, HTML, JPG, GIF, BMP, PNG, NES, SEGA GG, PC-E, GB, GBA, NDS... many file format.
    • USB2 compatible (should make the file transfers very fast)
You can already see the first pictures of the kit on the official website.
We don't have much more information, we don't know the price (even though rumors say it *might* be $180, but it's just rumors) and we don't know the release date either. However, we are almost certain that the product is ready, since our beloved admin shaunj66 will be sent a Neo Kit next week in order to write an extensive and detailed review! I'm sure you are all as eager as me to read the very first review of this promising tool!

We would also like to thank the whole NeoFlash team for their work and for releasing a DS flash kit so fast. Thank you!

    [IMG] shaun, shaun, shaun...
OK everyone, FYI shaun is actually an uber-lazy admin... I told him to break the news early in the afternoon but he... forgot [IMG] [IMG] ... (damn GCN+qoobchip heh? [IMG] ) so I had to do the dirty job...
so you'll have to excuse me if the news look bad and have spelling/gram errors!

I wonder if that MagicKey works with a normal flashcard...

anyway, my 256Mb card is way too small for DS and GBA games, so getting a bigger one (probably the 1Gig one, as rumour says it costs just 50$ more) is okay for me...

I think the NES, GB, PC-E, Sega GG etc. support is done by existing GBA emulators like PocketNES, Goomba, PCEAdvance etc., I doubt that they've rewritten so many emulators to make use of the power of the DS in so little time...well, since most of these are open source, they could have been easily recompiled to make use of the full 30MHZ of the ARM7 CPU, as it doesn't need any recoding

we'll see...it's very clever that they're giving away free NeoFlash kits to developers, as the manufacturing costs surely aren't even half the price they're gonna cost, and will push the DS development scene, as well as the sales when first SNES emulators are released....plus, NeoFlash needs some DS images to be dumped, or else nobody actually needs the NeoFlash...and I'm positive that some nice persons, like shaunj66 [IMG] , will dump and release their DS games as soon as they get their free NeoFlash kit

Really? I'm a bit slow on the DS emulation nowadays.

from the looks of it the neoflash kit will not allow you to dump ds carts
