Hey all. It's been awhile since i upgraded the apps on my wii. I was around when all the backup loaders and what not where first being released. I don't really use my wii for games any longer but i do use it for a media center.
I was using Mplayer ce v0.6 and still am, but i have just found a great program called WiiMC. I just got a 1tb home media network drive and got the smb shares set up in wiiMC and i love how easy it is. I am running into one problem though.....when i try to install WiiMC v1.1.0 as a channel it says i need to update my ios to ios58.
From what i have read there are two ways to get ios installed on my system. The first being to upgrade my wii to 4.3 which includes ios58 and usb2.0 support. The second option is to use ios58 installer by Tantric. well I really don"t want to upgrade my console to 4.3 and would prefer to just use the IOS58 installer.
I am currently running ios36, when i started the homebrew channel today it prompted me to updated which i did, so i should be current on the HBC. I ran the ios58 installer by Tantric, it downloaded the file said installing and then said installation successful, but when i run the installer again it still says i am running ios36 and when I try to install WiiMC v1.1.0 as a channel it prompts me to update my ios.
I'm stuck. I would just like to have wiiMC installed as a channel. Please can someone assist me.

edit.....was just reading a little more and I think I will also need to update my cIOS (I am unsure how to identify what cIOS version I currently have).
And if it helps i am on system menu 3.1u
