I have a .wud file and a .key file. I'm trying use Uwizard to extract the game but it keeps giving me a error when extracting. Any how , what am I supposed to do with the .key file ? I'm assuming the .key is the title key I need but I don't know how to open it. I have tried other key titles I found online but they don't seem to work either. Still getting errors when trying to extract game.

First, rename your file so the extension is .bin instead of .key. Uwizard doesn't include .key files in its file dialog.

In Uwizard, click on "Open WiiU Game", and navigate to the .wud file.
Then click the Import button in the Title Key section, and navigate to your .bin file.
After you select your file and click Open, click in the title key box. Press the home key on your keyboard, then use the right arrow key to count the characters.

If you have 64 or 66 characters, your key file is probably a txt file. Rename the extension to .txt and try again.

If you don't have exactly 32 characters, your key is wrong.

Also, when you click Extract Game Files, the DiscU output will tell you if your key is incorrect. (Move the "Error Extracting Files" window if you can't see the DiscU messages.)

If you need more help, you'll have to give us the actual DiscU messages. Messages from frontend GUI (Uwizard, in this case) aren't always useful.

Thanks. I'll give it a try when I get home and let you know what happens.

Hey guys, Thread has been stagnant for 2 years, but my issue is related, thought I'd take a shot in the dark.

I can't seem to get any game I have tried to pass SHA1 title key check, and it fails to extract (obviously)
Games I tried:
Nintendo Land
Terraria
Angry Birds Star Wars
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
Breath of the Wild

been using title keys from that keys site

Uploaded a screen shot, showing that the key ends up as 32, and appears correct in the .bin, and is also reflected in the title key list.
I have gone ahead and tried every region key listed as well. (JPN, EUR, and Alternants)

common key checks fine.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I also want to add that i have tried JWUDtool, and VGMToolBox,
they also complain about keys.

So I want to say the issue is with keys, lol. But the list seems pretty comprehensive and official, I would think I would have hit at least 1 that worked by now, So I am missing something, or something has changed, and I haven't come across a forum detailing it...

You shouldn't post the address to that site. Also, if you are using .wud images then the keys on that site won't work anyways. What you need is the disc key, sometimes called a wud title key. They should be distributed with the wud as a game.key file. Otherwise it should have been included in the .nfo file that should have also been distributed with the wud. If neither were provided, then it was released against scene rules anyway and you should check your dl sources

probably be easier just to use usb helper. I was using a site that had wud keys, but the site kept changing that it was hard to keep up with. I guess they were trying to avoid Nintendo.

Not sure you really read my post. This whole post is about uwizard, the screenshot shows me using uwizard lol.

the issue is that the SHA1 is returning fail

Thanks for the tip about the link, I will be more careful in the future. In hindsight, the screenshot with the page open would have been sufficient...

Thanks for the tips also about the title keys needing to be included... they were not. so clearly my repo is useless. makes me wonder why someone would host a few hundred GBs of unusable wuds though. perhaps there is another way to use them I have not come across?

I have been finding it difficult to find reliable D/Ls, as I came to the WiiU scene a bit late (Yesterday). most of the places that seemed to be the go-to, are now dead links. even the bay of pirates has few seeders on top tier wiiu games

I saw many people mention that one, but gave up looking for a d/lable executable for something with a generic name like usb helper. lol

Found a semi-recent reddit post that had what i needed for USB helper (decided to give it another shot) will keep you updated

sorry, I thought you were using something else based on that hexed wud key. the site I went to didn't have that, just an xml file with the keys inside. and, uwizard doesn't require a hexed key either.

A WUD is a 1:1 disc image and should be avoided if possible. It includes encrypted disc partitions which is why you need the disc key(wud title key). Downloading with a NUS downloaders will give you encrypted archive files, ie: .app and .h3. These encrypted archives are what WUPInstaller is designed to work with.
