Gaming Need help with "The game could not be started"

Finally installed the CFW 3.80 M33.
Tried to start a game (FF7 CC) but got the "The game could not be started" message.
I remember hearing rumors about that you need a original UMD (movie? game?) disc in the UMD drive before you can play anything.
Is that true?

What types of video file does the psp support. Just tried with a .avi and failed.

Just wondering, what's the difference between all the different UMD modes?

I run it in normal -UMD required- mode, because I have Breath of Fire III in the UMD case at all times, but I see no difference to when I use any of the other games off the MS.

Compability for different games. Some work with certain settings, some don´t work. Normal mode always works, but drains batterylife more quickly as the UMD disc spins.
