Hacking Need help with CFW and MHG Online

Some months ago i installed CFW Reinand on my New 3DS using this guide.

I just bought MH Generations recently and want to play online with friends.
But i can't connect online cause i need to upgrade to latest firmware on my emunand.

I'm wondering if its safe to upgrade? And what exactly is the process if so?

ReiNAND is a little outdated and may not work on the latest emuNAND, but it won't hurt to try. Follow these steps:
1. Boot into emuNAND
2. Go to Settings and make sure it says something other than "Ver." or "Sys."
3. Do not exit Settings and do not go to SD card management
4. Go to Other Settings and choose Update System.

If, when you try to boot into emuNAND you get a black screen, that means you need a more up to date CFW. I recommend Luma3DS. It should be just a matter of dragging the files onto the SD card, and editing whatever method you have for booting into emuNAND (e.g. if menuhax, you'll have to change either boot.3dsx or the boot manager if you're using one. Or if you go through the homebrew launcher, choose Luma instead of ReiNAND).
