Need help with a formatted PS4 on 9.0, it started downloading 12.0 update

Nevermind got it fully working, the trick is to not use Al Azif DNS but find another and then after running GoldHen send the Disable Updates Payload.

You can ftp in and delete the update if it is still on firmware 9.00

Yeah I unplugged it while it was downloading, then unplugged my ethernet from the PS4, restarted it and it let's you delete it then from the list of downloads. I got it all sorted out now and have disabled updates so no more update nags.

I've never screwed up updating a PS4 from 8ish to 9.00, just download the specific FW, then install it via the Safe Mode.

Of course, always turn off the network, delete whatever notifications, and disable automatic updates (that does worry me when initializing a console, though thankfully it just factory resets it).

Sony sure doesn't want people on older firmwares, but those of us who have it we're lucky. And those with PS5s on low firmwares, even luckier (it's hard to find one on a low FW).

These companies are all obsessed with updates that rarely actually help much. Like Windows 10 you can put off updates for several months but then one day when you shut off your computer it'll just say "fuck you, you're updating"

I'm like geez I thought when I bought something it was mine, which is another thing I don't like about digital games you're basically buying a license for the game that can expire at any time. Imagine if that happened with NES games, they'd be obsolete and unplayable now for decades.
