I just called up Nintendo and set up the repair. They have great customer service. The man on the other line also is going to send a replacement stylus, because my old one got scratched.

I guess it's the official firmware of the DS Lite which Nintendo probably hold the copyright for. So that sort of makes it a real release because it's a ripped and packed commercial product. Dunno about the legalities of it, is it not a bit like when you get an emulator for something and have to hunt down the BIOS yourself because the emu author can't put in on his HTTP site because of copyright issues? Does any of this make sense? It's 1:20am and i've been at work for 10 hours after being woken up by builders at 8am so I think I'm starting to hallucinate. If this post makes no sense just pretend you never read it. kthx.

Whats really needed is a version of flashme that keeps the recovery mode, health screen removal and rsa removal but doesnt boot the slot-2 automatically.

I really like flashme but now I have a slot-1 and a slot-2 card I mostly want the slot-1 to boot up first.

Wouldn't it be easier to modify the header of the Slot-2 card to not have "PASS" as game code?

I don't know how to edit the header on an M3 but it sounds like a bad idea to me.

I was nuts over flashing my DS phat because it had a big phallic purple passme + DS Cart sticking out 3.4 metres and it meant both me and my friend could get SuperCards and only have to buy one Pass-me.

But yeah, not going to bother flashing my new DS Lite. Dunno if I'd bother unflashing it if it was already tho.

It is indeed funny, although I don't get WHY so many would like to unflash...

Warranty claims (though many people say they tend not to notice anyway), selling the DS, and if I'm right in thinking flashed DS's still can't do offline multiplayer against non-flashed DS's then there's another reason. I think it's more that people like having the option, even if they're not actually going to use it yet.

This release really helps spread noflashme because now I can tell my friends "don't worry, if you notice it, I can get rid of it" Instead of "sorry guys...you can't get rid of it" And although I've had no problem with any DS I have flashed, they don't notice it at all, some just like to know that you can go back.

As for the whole single cart multiplayer if flashed still can't send to non-flashed ds...what you do is you give your superkey + supercard (or whatever you use ) to the nonflash DS and use your own DS to download!

thats what I have been doing with people who don't have their DS flashed.

You are right, before I flashed my DSLite I made a quick program and took a backup of the firmware (knowing that with the code from FWNitro I could reverse the process easily enough if I had a good dump).

I've unflashed my DS now, it works fine.

Annoying H&S screen is back, Pictochat works, settings can be changed. My M3 Simply now boots by default and it happily boots my M3Lite if i hit the "Boot from Slot-2" Option.

The H&S screen and the lack of single cart multiplayer is a small price in exchange for not having to hold down select every time I turn on the DS
