1800 and 1900 are the number of words for vocabulary building.

What's different is that Chuugaku Eitango Target 1800's vocabulary is um... targetted at Junior High students while Eitango Target 1900 is a little more for adults.

Funny how the children get a lovely guitar playing dog on the cover while the adults get a creepy hyena type of thing. Probably quite effective to scare children away and make them buy the other version...

Actually, they aren't learning more because 1900 > 1800. It's a different set of vocabulary for each version.
For example the Eitango Target 1900 has a set of 'business' terms and uses them in sentences that focuses in business-like situations. Other sets for example, relate to law or medical terms I think. A junior high student will not need these as much as an adult. The Chugake version on the other hand, focuses more on vocabulary to be learnt and used at school.
