there's no real strafe in the game, i tried it out. the best you get is an UnrealTournement like side-jump but even this one is miserable. in general feels like a bad Doom or Wolfenstein.

Oh well, get over it or hack it

Also on M3 CF I had some crackling, only when i fought the first boss(the golem with the club). After that it faded off and havn't heard it since then.

For those that don't like it, make sure you try scenario 2. It might be more up your alley.

As for sound crackling, I've found that if I close the DS and open it again, it stops.

the game gets better if you finally understand what the peops around you are talking. especially i managed now to set the game to left-hand mode ( as i'm a left handed person ) which makes the controls less cubersome.

Ok I finally played the game, about 2:15 hours into second chapter and I have to say I love the game. I can't wait to learn what happened! I am stuck at the altar of rebirth and don't know what to do

I am ok with this game but I have to say that, like a lot of RPG games out there, I am already sick of the dialog. I am pretty sure the game thinks it is more clever than it really is and I am tired of the purplepus reminding me that he is the keeper of memories. I realise that it is his job to keep memories but I think I can remember that from one room to the next. just shut up, cure me, and now save my spot cause I am gonna grab a grog.

What I meant to say is that although they repeat themselves, there is eventually a progression in the story and eventually they don't repeat themselves anymore, I still don't know why they made the first hour so stupid.

So, does this game get interesting with time? It seemed like the same rooms and things always repeating when I played it in Japanese. Is there lots of new stuff I have missed?

played roughly 2 hours or so... hence made it past that dragon ( in fact the ONLY 3d model in there which has proper animation... even if it's only the 'stand up' animation ¬.=.¬ ). you get some more exploration twists and some more traps/spells but the general system remains the same... so nothing new there, even after the often cited first-hour.

Yeah, the controls are rather annoying, but I got used to them. The game forgives you for not being able to strafe, the enemies aren't too tough.

You can strafe by pushing left or right (y or a for left handed guys like me

) twice !
U_U ... how often do we have to say this: you can NOT strafe, you can only dodge left or right. if you are locked on the enemy though you can circle around by pressing left and right but again this is no strafing but circling.

in games there are three basic movements besides forth/back:
- dodging: one quick step to the side with optional roll or another evasive move
- strafing: walking/running sidewards without changing aim-direction
- circling: circle around enemy in a circle pattern chancing aim-direction at enemy all time

somehow many ds-games feel cell-phonish
wink.gif

i don't think so too. cell phones tend to not have a stylus at all not even thinking about touch screen. to me good DS games play anything else than a cell phone game ( which are most of the time 1-thumb games ).

no no, I don't mean graphics or controls and stuff. I just think many DS-games are very simple and don't have ingame-deepth like many gba games have. Games like Yoshi TouchNgo are just average PDA quality, also Metroid, also NewSuperMario (1st Mario for 1st gameboy was 100times better) seem sooooo rushy;
The really good games will come out, I'm sure. it just takes some time

don't know exactly why there should be no quality games on the DS. in my opinion there are a couple of DS games which are interesting, at least due to the way the D-Pad and the Stylus are combined. what goes for quality by itself in terms of 'Depth' to the game i think we can't bitch about what we have at the time beeing. definitly way better than what you can get on a cellphone or a PDA.
