So I guess the logic is, if your release chan is public, you're not a real scene group? Sounds like elitist bullshit to meÂ
tongue.gif

you hit the nail right on the head. also this rather sounds like smart bullshit to me. the big groups would not be releasing anymore today if they showed up in public channels, or even ran some. but their asses would be dragged into jail faster then you could count to 3. but i guess people like you don't care about others lives, as long as you get get the juarez for free

So, who gives a FUCK anyway? If they want to release their shit in public channels, it's THEIR prison sentence, not yours. Just saying "pffft, u r lame bcoz I haev access 2 0day distros n its not public lol omg what a fag you r" just makes you look retarded.
I, for one, will just download. I don't have any other say in this, and whenever they get caught (no ifs about it), others will take their place anyway.

if you only spent like 30s thinking about the topic then it might seem so. but maybe consider this. if such people are part of the scene, it means they got decent presites etc. these sites usually have aw buttload of users + other groups. so if a member gets busted, the feds ofcourse will get all the info out of him they can. what sites he was on, what location they are, where they run, who runs them, who is added and uses wich irc nick etc etc. using this information they can start to take a shot at these sites + even more people. so in the end you can be like the most elitist, securest motherfucker on earth and never even leave your house to avoid meeting a cop. but in the end, it just takes one guy and a serious of unfortunate events to take you down. sure you can never zero out the risks, but everyone should be atleast interested to minimize it as much as possible.

wow, thanks for realizing that these groups actually consist of real people that have families, friends, hopes and plans for the future. i guess it doesn't matter if they get thrown into jail for a couple years. sure, noone forces anyone to do this but you should atleast give out some respect to the ones that chose to do so anyway.

I think the nfo is wrong as well. What Pocketheaven says is true, WRG is not considered a scene group, if thats a good or bad thing is irrelevent. They only started to actually pre on sites recently, before this spreading directly to public, you are not going to be considered a scene group if this is your actions. Obviously WRG care enough how they are seen to have to mention it in their nfo though.

And yes some people are not going to be comfortable with people who release directly to the public also existing in the private sites of the scene, because it is a clear security risk. You get caught from your public actions and you just put people in danger who tried their best to remain hidden, which doesnt seem fair.

Well to be fair with WRG, altho they originated from irc chans and even advertised a romchan in one of their former nfos they seem to have become more professional. atleast they are on some good asian sites nowadays plus have established relationships with some of the bigger console groups. but on the other hand alot of people consider most mp3/console/ebooks/movie groups not as a part of the scene, so the above doesn't say much :-)

Eh Maybe they do not, and "only" have access to leaks or couriers. They're the inside sources from publishers, or stores, who steal/"lose"/sometimes even buy copies of what they're supposed to duplicate. Also, are you seriously implying that IRC is still secure? Sure, the "scene" still clings to this antique way of sharing files, but we all know that P2P is the next step up. I don't think using a 15-year old protocol to communicate is "minimizing the risks". It's called "clinging to the old ways", and it will bite them in the ass. Especially at a time when mr. anybody can dump his own cart and share it anonymously on the mule in less than ten minutes.

What the fuck are you talking about? We're THIEVES. WE BREAK THE LAW. Yes, even when we try before we buy, yes, even when we just wanna see how the US version compares to our bought EU version. It's not how YOU define it, it's how the pigs in command defined it. I think first and foremost about the coders who work hard to create games. Saying "warez release group XXX are bound to end up jailed" is not being disrespectful, it's common sense, even though there's a good probability they won't.

You dont know what you are talking about. Groups dont spread through IRC. If someone did put on P2P (which would be a terrible method of spreading in the first place), you start downloading and one netstat -a later and you have the persons exact IP. Id like to see you go and find some group members IPs as easy as that.
