A great week for RPG lovers, with two long awaited titles in the genre, a Action RPG & a Strategy RPG both of which are trying to do something new within their genres. Aside from those there are the usual crap cash in shovelware games...but oh look Okami Wii, hope its a good port!

<!--coloro:Purple--><span style="color:Purple"><!--/coloro--><b><u>Read to know when a game could be dumped:</u>
These dates are what retailers say is out unless stated otherwise, sometimes they make dates up for pre-ordering purposes. Some games may get delayed some others not listed may appear but at the moment of posting these are correct. Also just because a game is released in stores it doesn't mean that they'll appear on our internets but NA titles usually appear on our 'nets Wednesday night UK time. Its finally here! I've been bored with many RPG's on the DS, especially the Strategy ones and I'm hoping that this revives what I think is a stale genre. Rondo of Swords combines an epic narrative, complete with a branching story and multiple endings, with an innovative combat mechanic that takes advantage of the DS touch screen and forces you to add even more strategy and planning to your attacks. Route Maneuvers allow you to hit all enemies in your path and enhance your attack or defense, while managing your Momentum Counter to gain stat bonuses and control who your enemies target becomes critical to success! Challenging gameplay, a lengthy campaign, deep party management, and customizable skills all come together to make Rondo of Swords a compelling fantasy strategy RPG package. Cleanse the sacred blade, protect the princess, and vanquish the oppressing armies of your enemy on your quest to deliver the Kingdom of Bretwalde from tyranny!

Sure we get a lot of these sort of RPG's but at least this one is trying something different, lets give this one a chance and if you like it, go and buy it then Atlus will keep bringing us these games from Japan for us to enjoy.

Available exclusively for Nintendo DS, Major League Baseball 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars offers fans of all ages a fun experience featuring starting lineups from all 30 Major League Baseball clubs, a variety of exhibition and tournament modes, All-Star training mini-games, along with fantasy-themed baseball stadiums.

Major League Baseball 2K8 Fantasy All-Stars provides fans the unique opportunity to control the power and technique of their swings and the speed and accuracy of their pitch by performing specific gestures with the stylus. Fielding, baserunning and other controls also utilize the DS touch screen, as players drag and trace lines to execute these specific baseball actions. I didn't write that, thats the company blurb for it.

I really dislike these crap Disney musicals, they are so fucking awful its unbelievable! Plus you know that most of the "stars" will end up with 3 kids by 20 and with coke addictions. Any way I'm featuring this as some parents may want to get this for their darling children but really, shame on you!

Dive into an all new musical adventure in High School Musical: Work This Out! and play as one of your favourite Wildcats! Explore the lush grounds of Lava Springs as you journey the pool, golf course, and other areas while playing mini games, rehearsing dance moves, and ultimately achieving the end goal of winning the Star Dazzle Award. It will also feature all the songs from HSM 2, if thats what you like.

Typical shit shovelware-esq mini game bullshit that we've seen a million times on the DS, if you're gonna make games based on crap at least give the kids some respect by making them a decent game.

Isn't it about time DS owners got a decent pinball game? The best we have is Metroid Prime Pinball which is pretty decent. The tables are pretty generic and include: Monster, Dino War, Aquatic, Spinning Rotar, Also what is kinda odd is that the action is only on the bottom screen but at least you won't get that second where you can't see your ball. There are the standard button controls and touchscreen controls. Could be fun, could be crap.

Yes SE do come up with new IP's once in a while! This one looks a lot different to most RPG's out there, for a start its set in a real place, Tokyo's Shibuya. The World Ends With You tells the story of Neku Sakuraba, an unsociable 15-year-old boy who unexpectedly wakes up in the Shibuya shopping district of Tokyo, Japan. While trying to piece together his rude awakening, he receives a strange text message warning him that he will cease to exist unless he accomplishes a certain mission. Although he barely has time to grasp what is happening to him, he commences his assigned task in the mysterious streets of Shibuya.

From IGN's preview: "Players control Neku (with Shiki following) by use of either the D-pad or touch screen. The game is set up like pages of a comic, so you'll run to the edge, the screen will fade out, and a new area will pop up. All along the Shibuya strip you'll find side roads to run down, individual stores to enter and shop in, ramen houses to eat at, and the like. You can save at any time, and of course manage any items or equipment via an extremely deep sub-menu. On its most basic of levels, The World Ends With You is about navigating the city, talking with people, and slowly but surely figuring out how to complete each day's mission. Rather than having random battles, the game allows you to decide when/where you want to fight, and while some of the bosses and key events revolve around these noise battles, at any given time you can hit the pin icon at the bottom of the touch screen, go into search mode, and see anywhere from three to a dozen drifting pieces of noise in the world. Defeat them, and you'll gain a number of rewards. Battle is where things really pick up though, as The World Ends With You allows players to control both Neku and Shiki (or whoever partner he is aligned with) simultaneously via the Stride-Cross Battle System. The partner control is definitely the easier of the two to handle, as control is done with arrow combos on the d-pad (or buttons, for lefty players). Once you hit left or right, a branching string of combos pops up. Follow any of the strings to the end, and your partner delivers an attack. Each enemy exists in two planes of existence though, so the idea is to attack with Neku, send the attack energy (in the form of a green combo effect, known as a "puck") up to your secondary character, attack with them, and send it back down again. The better you use your two players in tandem, the stronger the attacks will be."

To be honest I wasn't that frilled with the Japanese version but I do get a feeling that this is a game that you'll need to know whats going on to truly appreciate it plus its a different kind of RPG experience to what we are used to. Scores suggest that its the next Nintendo DS classic.

I hope that this is a good racer but two things make me think that it won't. 1. Its being released at £11.99 and 2. Midas Entertainment release crap games, but hey lets be optimistic here, the game does feature online wi-fi mode (something most bigger games don't bother having) and seeing as we probably won't get Wipeout it'll have to do for weapon based future racing. It sounds pretty mundane but looks better than most cash in titles.

Awesome game on the PS2 but for some reason PS2 owners didn't buy it, favouring EA crap instead so you Wii owners show them what you're made of! When you get a great game YOU GET IT! Basically its kinda like Zelda but this game was much better than Twilight Princess.

Use the Wii Remote as a paintbrush to solve puzzles, create pathways, chop down trees or turn night into day. Okami comes alive through beautiful scenic 3D levels that have the appearance and texture of paper scrolls brushed with watercolor-like calligraphy art. Playing as Amaterasu, the sun goddess who takes on the form of a wolf, your goal is to bring life back to the world. Redesigned to take advantage of this unique platform, the Wii version sports widescreen graphics and motion controls. Players uses the Wii Remote as the 'celestial brush' in an effort to seal ancient evils once again.

Its been ported by Ready At Dawn Studios who did the awesome God of War PSP game and the well recieved Daxter game so hopefully it'll be as good if not better than the original. I hope it turns out well and then sells well as Capcom takes sales of this and Zack & Wiki and then decides if Wii owners want their great games.

Hey its a cancelled Xbox game from 2004! Hey it looks a bit Dreamcasty! Back then it was by Acclaim but for some reason Codemasters liked it and bought the rights. You drive fire engines, police cars and ambulances, and you drive around a city looking for people who are in need of help and you've gotta do this within a time limit.

So its Crazy Taxi then but with emergency services. One of the missions involves driving a patient to the hospital, and every jolt or crash you do effects their health so as well as doing the missin as fast as you can you'll also need to drive as safe as possible. The controlled completely by the Wiimote in the regular driving fashion. Could be good, I do like the idea and it reminds me of those SEGA arcade games they did in the late 90's. I hope its good anyway.

Eragon was a multiplatform DS Game, yeah, there is no doubt about it that most of those suckers... plain... yeah, suck <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Now stop before you skip this. Eragon is worth the money, it is a 3rd Person 3D Hack and Slash with awesome Graphics made by AMAZE Entertainment (the same that did the graphic engine for the DS WWE Game). It has a interesting storyline which kinda follows the book and film, much side quests (collect stuff, run errands for Townspeople) and a awesome Level System which make this game one of the most underrated games out in the DS-Game wild.

First of, yeah, you are right this game had it's flaws, and they weren't as ignorable as in other games for some people because they are control wise. Still when you are (like me) able to live with these controls (button controls available as a option too) then you get a pretty solid 3rd Person game with depth. You can even hijack other robos by pressing a certain touchscreen button for long enough, leaving your Mech and doing the same procedure to to enter the other one. I really feels like a dumbed down console game and the graphics look great so ppl at least give this one a chance!

    <b>Developer:</b> TOSE <b>Publisher:</b> Nintendo

I saw many people refusing to play this game for being too girly.. and I don't blame them, there's a lot of pink in the game and hell, you play as a princess! But if you can ignore all the pink and the cuteness this is a really good game, I might even say that it's one of the best platform games on the DS! The level design and the gameplay reminds me a lot the NES and SNES Mario games, the umbrella and the Princess "moods" are nothing really innovative but are a nice addition to the Mario style gameplay. Also, it's cool to see the crying goombas, angry koopas and overly happy paratroopas! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

It's not a very difficult game, but as every good platform game, it has tons of stuff to collect and secret levels to find, which will keep you busy for some hours if you're one of those peoples who like to find everything in the game! So, if you like Mario and old school platform games and you're secure about your masculinity (or you're a girly girl), give this game a chance, you'll not regret it! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink2.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wink2.gif" />

When the Wii was announced, first thing a lot people thought was "OMG! WE NEED A LIGHTSABER GAME WITH THAT!" and in September the dream of every Star Wars fanboy is coming true! I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Krome Studios (the developers of the Wii version) are putting some effort into it.

The game graphics and physics are looking quite good for a Wii game and the way your light saber moves depends on how you're moving your Wiiremote, it's not random like Twilight Princess.. also, you can use force powers moving the Nunchuck. The Wii version will also have an exclusive battle mode were you can fight other players using characters from the game and from the movies!

Ah...The World Ends With You -- thank God! Really looking forward to this game, not least of all because of all the other drek coming down the pike here recently. After playing Dragon Sword about six times straight, I went back to older games to try to help repair my post-great-game depression -- Phantom Hourglass, VJDT, Ouenden 2.... Can't wait for TWEWY ( [IMG] ), though.

Most everything else on your DS list, though...yeesh -- not a great week. And I think a lot of folks are likely to be disappointed with Rondo of Swords. Then again, a lot of Tempers have some unique taste, it seems. Either way, I'm not as excited about Rondo as I am Atlus' other DS game due out here soon, Drone Tactics.

Its out on the 20th, this thread only covers the week. Should be "meh" at best but I guess those who liked it will like the next one.

Is anyone still interested in these threads at all?

Some reviews said that the Wii controls are not as good as they could be on Okami.. still, I haven't played the PS2 version, so I'm getting it!

Been waiting for World Ends With You and Rondo of Swords.. hope they're good!

Eragon is a good game? Wow. What are the controls? I know it sounds weird, but do you use the L button at all? (Mine is broken, that is why I am asking)

Oh, mech assault was mentioned, quite neat. If only the control scheme was better and maybe some other stuff sorted out it would definitely be worth the 1024Mbit on my card but deciding to use the touchscreen as some kind of pseudo analog stick wasn't such a good idea [IMG]

Go get the DLDI version of linley's dungeon crawl (DS crawl). I've got a thread with the download link somewhere in the ROM hacking, etc. forum from a few weeks(month?) ago...

I don't understand why everybody's saying that Twilight Princess wasn't that good...?! I am playing it, and I find it quite awesome! What's wrong with it? ^^"

(Seriously, I am curious about why this game is overlooked by so much people)

    @ Hadrian

I read every one of these release threads you do, and I'm sure many others do too!

The after Christmas slump of "real" games can make doing this a pain, but with spring time here companies will start getting good games out the doors again...

    I hope...
