The first weekly thread in a while and though there isn't much out this week its still better than most weeks so lets not have your pissing and moaning ok? Wii owners have two great (and pretty) 2D platformers to enjoy.

These dates are what retailers say is out unless stated otherwise, sometimes they make dates up for pre-ordering purposes. These dates could also be "shipping dates" which usually means that that's the date when games get shipped to stores so a game could either be in stores on that day or after. Some games may get delayed some others not listed may appear but at the moment of posting these are correct. Also just because a game is released in stores it doesn't mean that they'll appear on our internets but NA titles usually appear on our 'nets Wednesday night UK time. I love you like a something loves something.<!--colorc--></span><!--/colorc-->

I've finally come to accept publishers rehashing old games but still charging the same price as a all new game, I mean it happens with movies, books, comics & music so why not video games? Anyway here comes another port of an oldie but goldie PC strategy title.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Jagged Alliance is an explosive fusion of role-playing game and turn-based tactical combat, allowing players to become fully immersed in their characters. They may have aged a fair bit but I still enjoy the old JA games and if this is the sort of game you are after than you could do much worse.

Holy crap a Zoo Digital game I actually want to play!! Shit been ages since that has happened, but why do I care about this game? Well technically its an unnofficial spin off to the Puzzle Quest games and not only that but its made specifically for the Wii & DS by the PQ devs Infinite Interactive.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Puzzle Kingdoms brings players engaging, classic turn-based gameplay with a captivating fantasy storyline. Fast and unique puzzle mechanics make building troops, managing armies, fortifying castles, and lauching assaults addictive in any campaign. Customizable kingdoms and innovative play combine to create one of the greatest games in the puzzle RPG genre.

Puzzle Kingdoms challenges players to plan out strategic attacks in order to defeat their opponents. Order troops across the map, conquering cities through innovative puzzle gameplay. Players build and manage armies led by heroic commanders to save the world of Etheria from the brink of destruction. By matching corresponding gems on the game board, players will both inflict damage on enemy forces while building mana that can be used to perform devastating attacks that will cripple their opponents.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
When all is said and done its practically its the same old as PQ1 but those aching for more of that game could be happy with this though despite beign developed by Infinite Interactive it does look like one of Zoo Digitals knock offs. Also for the record Puzzle Quest 2 was great...just not on the DS. Sorry there isn't a trailer.

What is shovelware? Well many people claim any bad game as shovelware...they're wrong. You see many of these games have had time and effort put into them, whereas games by DDI are just cheaply produce ports with a little waggle control. One big offender of shovelware on the DS is the Fantastic Four 2 game which lacks any imagination, style, effort and practically looks like something done by a team within 6 weeks, what does this have to do with NatM2? Well from the screens it looks like it has also had about 6 weeks development time (from an experineced dev of course)

Larry gets a distress call from the miniature cowboy, Jedediah, reporting that Egyptian ruler Kahmunrah and a trio of heinous henchmen - namely Ivan the Terrible, Napoleon and Al Capone - are plotting to take over the museum, then the world. Speeding to the nation¿s capitol, Larry is clearly in over his head. But with some impressive new pals, including the irrepressible Amelia Earhart, along with familiar friends Teddy Roosevelt and Octavius, Larry will stop at nothing to restore the Smithsonian before dawn.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Get ready for a typical generic DS platform game with touchscreen puzzles! Marvel at the lack of imagination and prepare yourself to delete the damn thing from your flash cart after a couple of lazily created generic levels.
Yep its by Amaze Entertainment, who have done decent enough movie to DS games before (PotC: At Worlds End, Over The Hedge, Eragon) but from time to time they do games where you can see that they have no interest in doing them but are only doing them for money. Shame that the developers behind the awesome GBA game, Spyro Eternal Night can't get to do stuff that they want to with the right amount of time.

Thats it for the DS games, nothing for Japan and the two due for Europe have been dumped anyway.

A remake of the excellent PSX platform Klonoa - Door To Phantomville and quite possibly the most hyped up Klonoa ever, which really pleases me because this game is due some bloody media coverage. Both Klonoa 1 & 2 GBA rock, so did the Wonderswan & PS2 games.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Help Klonoa save Phantomile, a land formed by the dreams of its inhabitants, and recently besieged by an unknown evil. Klonoa's breathtaking journey takes him through a series of increasingly difficult stages across multiple kingdoms as he strives to save his friends and homeland. Throughout his quest, Klonoa is aided by his friend Hewpoe, a benevolent spirit who resides in the ring from which Klonoa is able to fire his Wind Bullet. The Wind Bullet gives Klonoa the ability to grab and inflate his enemies and use them to his advantage.

Klonoa's long-awaited return offers vibrant graphics, motion control and new secrets to discover in this update to the series' debut adventure. With a simple move of the Wii Remote Klonoa can throw captured enemies to break obstacles, uncover hidden items or defeat other enemies. Klonoa can also use any enemy he is holding to perform a double jump which allows him to reach high ledges or jump across large pits. By moving the Nunchuk, Klonoa can use his whirlwind to slowdown approaching enemies. In addition to the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controls, Klonoa offers a wide range of control options for any style of play, including Wii Remote only, Classic Controller and the Nintendo GameCube controller.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Having already beaten the Japanese version earlier in the year I can safely say that its better than the original, its nothing amazing but its a very pretty and enjoyable plattformer. One of those games platform fans should BUY.

Wow a "New Play Control" title not out in Europe first? Hopefully this'll be more like the Pikmin ports than the dreadful Mario Power Tennis port. No rant about Nintendo ripping us off this time.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Part of Nintendo's Wii De Asobu Selection series of titles of classic Nintendo games remade for the unique control systems of the Wii, this game brings back the unique platformer Donkey Kong Jungle Beat with controls designed around the Wii Remote.

The big ape is drumming up a new beat for platformers with this unique action game. Using crazy motions with the Wii Remote, you guide Donkey Kong through wild jungle environments brimming with ravenous enemies and challenging obstacles. As you "drum" your way through diverse stages ranging from lush jungles to floating jelly in the sky, you will battle enormous beasts, collect bananas, get in boxing matches with rivals and even ride animals and vehicles in a jungle gone wild!<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
This version you use the analogue stick on the nunchuck, and make him jump with the A button. The game does uses the wiimote for a few moves, including punching at enemies and performing fancier jumps. So this time its more of a traditional platformer, its said to play better than when you use d-pad on the GC version but I prefer to use bongos as the game was developed with those in mind and they also made it more fun...oh well Nintendo. One plus about this over the other Wiimakes is that the visuals have been notably improved and the levels have also been tinkered with.

While its pleasing to see this genre come back with a lot of games, I just wish that they were more like the old ones we have as the only ones of this type that I have truly enjoyed were the Strong Bad games on PC & Wii.

Klonoa...a definite buy for me. Very much looking forward to it, and it's really surprisingly there aren't more quality platformers on Wii.

Hopefully Jagged Alliance is as good on the DS as it was on the PC all those years ago.

2 good-looking platformers for the Wii, not more for me.
May give them a try if the scrubbed size isn't too big [IMG]

I recall that the Japanese versions were below 1 gb so should be about the same for the US dumps.

Sweet, Klonoa and Donkey Kong. Btw, is Jagged Alliance the US version of Elite Force 77?
