I'm betting a lot of people wish they knew Japanese this week as there are some big hitters out over there. One or two game English you might be interested in, nothing amazing though. The week after however is a flood of DS games.

Read to know when a game could be dumped:
These dates are what retailers say is out unless stated otherwise, sometimes they make dates up for pre-ordering purposes. These dates could also be "shipping dates" which usually means that that's the date when games get shipped to stores so a game could either be in stores on that day or after. Some games may get delayed some others not listed may appear but at the moment of posting these are correct. Also just because a game is released in stores it doesn't mean that they'll appear on our internets but NA titles usually appear on our 'nets Wednesday night UK time. Description of what the stamps mean

These are just my opinions, its best to try all the games yourself as some games that I don't like, others do.

Awarded to games that show promise or have had a lot of effort put into them. They may not end up to be that good but at least the developers bothered to put effort into them

Awarded to games that I know will either be bad or are just quickly made games with a lack of style or effort.

I love this series, wasn't into the GBA one though. What do you do? Well you throw balls at your opponent hoping to knock them out, simple but fun. In this one there are a lot of modes and places to battle with including a Brawl mode that looks like Super Smash Bros, but with dodgeballs.

I played the Japanese version and though was fun and has many modes it felt too slow for me.

EDIT: The US release has been improved, it has been sped up so the gameplay feels more balanced and some of the items have been tweeked so that they work better. Thanks to member Suspicion for the news.

Look a new Front Mission game! Who else thought they'd go all FF/DQ and just keep reissuing the past FM games?

Its actually not all new though, it was previously a mobile phone game but for the DS it has gotten a massive graphic overhaul, cut scenes have been added, new maps, the story has been reworked & even some of the characters have changed. Controls can either be with stylus or buttons...its up to you.

In the 2089 a war is brewing between the O.C.U. and U.C.S. Choose a side and battle with the destructive power of giant robot armoured vehicles called "wanzers".

Region Japan Genre: English Trainer...but awesome.
Developer: SEGA Publisher: SEGA

FUCK YEAH! This is a great idea! Take a great game like Typing of the Dead (which in turn was an inspired idea) but this time make it an English trainer! The House of the Dead series has had a bit of a come back this year what with Typing of the Dead 2 hitting PC's in Japan (won't work on my PC though) & HotD 2 & 3 Return making it on the Wii (shame no shotguns and it was a Xbox port).

The main mode is more akin to Typing/House of the Dead, only an word comes up in Japanese and you'll have to write it down in English but this game sounds like one that people who can speak English can play as not only does the word come up on the screen but it is also spoken to you! So in a way it acts as some kind of spelling bee sort of game.

Please SEGA bring this game over here, be it Japanese of the Dead, Welsh of the Dead or even just Writing of the Dead, release it! A demo is here: http://eod.sega.jp/taiken/ though it doesn't show its main mode.

Region Japan Genre: Action Tactical RPG
Developer: Banpresto/Monolith Soft Publisher: SEGA

From Banpresto (Sailor Moon & Summon Night series as well as Super Robot Wars), and co-developed with Monolift Soft (Xenosaga, Baten Kaitos series & Soma Bringer) comes a pretty pervy looking (major boobage) Tactical RPG.

The game will feature multiple worlds and combat will take place on foot. Aside from the playable characters for the game, mecha, many of them similar to the ones from the Original Generation games, will also be playable, if not controllable by the player's actions and issuing of commands. Gameplay videos suggest the battle system seems to be a mixture of Namco X Capcom (another game developed by Monolith Soft) and Valkyrie Profile, where the player must input a set of button-based commands to perform attacks. The player can chain these attacks together to execute long attack combinations, while issuing a new set of commands, such as support from characters on standby. The mecha featured in this game are much smaller the ones in the Super Robot Wars series, standing approximately around 3 meters high, making them look more like human-sized sentient robots.

The game also features several characters from other series, mainly Namco x Capcom and Xenosaga. The Super Robot Wars Taisen games are alright and have previously been released in the US so this one could make it out too. The trailer makes this look quite brilliant.

Ok this week it is DEFINITELY coming out...according to Lexicon. Sure its a rip off but it'll tie us over until Metal Slug 7 hits us. Fail at Contra 4? You'll probably fail at this! Thing is I want to slap a "Void" stamp on it just for the cheek of not only copying the game style but also the art of it as well and not adding NOTHING but I want more of these run and gun games so I'll just pretend its a fan game.

Sure it looks like something that could be done on the GBA but hopefully its worth worth playing a lot more than most DS titles.

Region North America Genre: Party
Developer: Route 24 Publisher: Agetec

LOL is a multiplayer-only party game, using the DS and its multiplayer features in a unique way. The game puts a fresh spin on the classic Japanese Game Oogiri. Players must challenge each other in free-form trivia-type face-offs.

The core structure of the game is extremely simple. Up to four players link together, and the randomly-decided leader of the group begins by writing a command or list of instructions on the touch screen to send to every other player. Once written, the group leader then sets an amount of time allowed for the challenge, and then beams it out to each of the other DS units. From there, it's all about drawing or writing on the DS's touch screen, as each player attempts to win the votes at the end of the round. Once finished all pictures are sent to the group leader, they reveal them one at a time or all at once, and everyone slides three vote tokens onto any number of pictures (their own included). The player with the most votes (Is it funny? Creative? Well-illustrated?) at the end of the round becomes the new leader; simple as that.

To be honest it could be fun but it seems pretty limited, maybe its a download only game.

Pretty average PSP game now on the Wii.

Death, Jr., Pandora and all their twisted friends are back and in their first misadventure on the Wii platform, trying to get out of another mess after accidentally releasing a powerful spirit. Teaming up for even more firepower, DJ and Pandora will take on a variety of possessed enemies as they progress through an adventure that seamlessly blends smooth platforming, intense combat, complex enemy AI and a unique sense of humour. Using the Wii remote and nunchuk, gamers can perform dual-weapon attacks of both the melee and projectile variety, and dispose of some 45 different enemies.

According to the developers a lot of the criticisms from the PSP game will be fixed like camera and controls. Graphics have been given an upgrade too though I didn't really notice much.

At first I thought this was Emergency Mayhem, but its not though its basically the same premise as that game.

Young rescuers can jump into 16 different variations of next-generation rescue vehicles as a police officer, firefighter or EMT and navigate through the sprawling streets of San Alto, keeping citizens safe along the way. Drive the next generation of rescue vehicles, piloting and commanding numerous hi-tech rescue vehicles designed specifically for ultra-high-risk, high-speed navigation. Two players can combine forces to form the ultimate rescue hero team to protect your city!

It actually looks a lot worse than EM, another quick and dirty job. Ubisoft continue to plague the Wii.

Combining the motion sensing Wii Remote with a custom mat controller, this game lets players use their whole body to participate in more than 10 fun and unique activities and multiplayer challenges.

Building upon the Wii Remote's unique attributes, Outdoor Life introduces a custom mat controller that lets players manipulate the on-screen action with a combination of hand gestures and movements with their feet across the mat's eight sensor pads. From rowing and dodging obstacles on a white-water rafting expedition to clearing an obstacle course, each of the game's more than 10 activities features a unique control scheme designed to provide an active and fun gameplay experience. Keeping track of each player's in-game accomplishments, Outdoor Life provides detailed information on personal best scores and times as well as updates on the progress of their friends and family with the game. The game also supports unique competitive and multiplayer challenges for up to two players such as mine cart racing and rope climbing on a single mat.

Sounds alright. This will be out in Europe in September. The US will get it as "Active Life: Outdoor Challenge" later in the year, though no date has been put down.

I first heard of this via an email from DDI telling me that my perception of their games will change when I see this game...I think they're worse now.

Many years ago, a dimensional portal to the Outer Worlds was suddenly opened, and an enemy from the darkness encroached upon our world. Led by Pompolic, these armies of demonic hordes quickly overran most (but not all) of the planet. The evil is spreading its power via his servants -- the Dark Souls. These Dark Souls - protected by a horde of monsters - are poisoning the minds of his victims and making them slaves of evil. The denizens of this world are on the edge of total annihilation. However, a little hope still exists in the heart of the remaining citizens. They believe that there are brave hearts who can save the world from the source of the evil power. If the Dark Souls were to be captured, the onslaught would stop, and Pompolic would be defeated; the call for heroes is made...

The times when a traveller could pass through the lands without fear are gone. Now at every step there are hordes of monsters with one purpose: to protect the Dark Souls by slaying anyone who is not a follower of darkness. But a great warrior with strong will, faith, and mighty weapons may succeed in defeating them. By building his or her strength, armour, and health, by harvesting the souls of monsters to gain incredible abilities, a hero may grow strong enough to challenge the Dark Souls. Will that hero be you?

This was first published on the PC by Strategy First and having played that version all I can say is "ew". Seriously avoid like you'd avoid an hepatitis ridden 90 year old man coming on to you.

Stuart you bastard! I thought you said your games will improve?

Whilst out on an important mission Sergeant Fluff and the rest of the Hamster Heroes fall into a trap set by the evil Hamster X. Hamster X captures the Hamster Heroes and imprisons them in indestructible Hamster Balls!

Inside his dark and eerie lab X has been busy creating 15 mind bending puzzles for the Heroes to complete. He hopes they will be trapped for ever in the puzzles and will never escape, meanwhile he and his army of Cyber-Hamsters will Take over the World!!! Will Hamster X succeed? Will he take over the World? You are called upon to navigate the Hamster Heroes safely through the twisting and mysterious environments set up by Hamster X – would will need to cope with tilting ledges, rotating cogs and floating platforms – it takes skill and quick thinking to make it to the end!

Super Monkey Ball clone ahoy! Sadly many idiots will pick this up rather then the very good Wii Monkey Ball game :cries:. This is yet another cheap and nasty PS2 game from 2005 ported to the Wii. Reviews of that game said it was way way way below average

DDI unleash even more shovelware, all have been dumped and set fire to, apart from Kawasaki Snow Mobiles which I won't write up as I seem to do so every damn week.

Sorry that there are no WiiWare titles listed, none have been announced for next week but as usual if there are any I'll update.

Quite alot of "Approves" and "Void" stamps this week. I'll be sure to check out Commando: Steel Disaster. Super Dodgeball Brawlers looks great too!

Looks like a great week. =]

Waiting for: Super Dodgeball Brawlers, Front Mission, Mugen no Frontier: Super Robot Wars OG Saga, Commando, and English of the Dead.

Btw, wasn't Summon Night Twin Age supposed to be released on the 27th? Or was it delayed?

I've just fainted.

I -loved- Super Dodgeball on the NES.

If this has similar gameplay, I'll die from pure pleasure.

And Commando looks nice. Never got into the Metal Slug Sereis.

Wasn't expecting Commando so soon. Very promising week for the DS, what with all the Hadrian Approved signs stamped.

A giant OH EM GEE for the Mugen no Frontier: Super Robot Wars OG Saga.

I watched the trailer Hadrian put up and I'm just... stunned.
Not just because the cutscenes had the girls' costumes performing some suggestive moves, but I like the idea of the crossover.

Come on you Japanese-savvy people, let's get it patching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually lol'ed at the LOL. I thought Hadrian just found the title to be absolutely crap or something that it would be laughed at.. but apparently it's a real title. lol.

Don't hold your breath. Not to be pessimistic, but the SRT series hasn't seemed to attract too many translation patch groups aside from Aeon Genesis, and they're only doing the old games. Nothing from the GBA+ games has even really been seriously attempted.
