Very slow week but it'll be better than a lot of weeks this year as a long awaited FPS is out this week and for those who know Japanese will be playing a great looking RPG this week too.

Read to know when a game could be dumped:
These dates are what retailers say is out unless stated otherwise, sometimes they make dates up for pre-ordering purposes. These dates could also be "shipping dates" which usually means that that's the date when games get shipped to stores so a game could either be in stores on that day or after. Some games may get delayed some others not listed may appear but at the moment of posting these are correct. Also just because a game is released in stores it doesn't mean that they'll appear on our internets but NA titles usually appear on our 'nets Wednesday night UK time. I love you like a something loves something.

Region: North America Genre: First Person Shooter

Renegade Kid's long awaited follow up to their 2007 hit, Dementium: The Ward. And again its another story driven spooky mature FPS.

Moon places gamers on the cold lunar surface in the year 2058. Researchers are shocked to find a sealed, alien hatch during construction of a new lunar base, but it's a shock that soon pales in comparison to what they find beyond the hatch.

* Renegade Kid's patented formula of sick and twisted FPS adventure features a cinematic storyline and white-knuckle shooting action
* Built on the Renegade Engine 2.0, Moon delivers rich environments and robust FPS gameplay that screams at a blistering 60 FPS
* Collect alien artifacts and challenge insane difficulty levels to unlock premium hidden content - only the hardcore need apply
* Annihilate alien hostiles as you rip up the lunar landscape in your turret-equipped buggy, or pilot the Remote Access Droid to delve into the Moon's darkest corners
* Deliver Major Kane's style of intergalactic diplomacy as you wield powerful alien technology like the Lepton Spread - a particle shotgun that can tear your enemies a new black hole

To be honest I'm not expecting the greatest game in the world, just something that plays well. Hopefully the developers have taken on all the critism of Dementium (my main problem was the level design) and have given us gamers something different to what is out there on the DS.

Region: Japan Genre: Action RPG
Developer: Atlus Co Publisher: Atlus Co.

A spin off from the Shin Megami Tensei series that is set in modern day Tokyo and you summon monsters to prevent the world from going tits up and you got to do this all within seven days...mmm sounds familar.

Out of nothing demons start appearing in and around Tokyo and its inhabitants are forced to flee to the centre of the city where a base is set up from which they try and defend them selves from the attacking demons surrounded and no where else to go. Only a week is left before the demons destroy the city in its whole. A program for cell phones is developed within the Tokyo bastion named COMP. This program allows certain users to connect with the demons and force them to fight on their side.

From this point the 17 year old "Hero" and his friends Atsurô Kihara and Yuzu Tanikawa get the hold of these special programs and venture of in the now demon infested Tokyo.

Sounds generic but looks amazing and I welcome any RPG's that are set in modern day as I'm sick of fantasy worlds and that. No English release announced but Atlus have released lesser known games so expect a release one day. Its getting great reviews in Japan, one to watch.

08? I guess this should have been released last year. Anyway this is apparently a big game from Capcom, even though they haven't shown anything from the Wii version...expect the worst? Capcom are usually great with games.

MotoGP is the world's premier motorcycling championship consisting of 18 Grand Prix races hosted around the globe. It features top motorcycle manufacturers such as Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Ducati, Kawasaki, K and Aprilia, who provide machinery for the world's best riders, including reigning World Champion Casey Stoner from Australia, American Nicky Hayden, Italy's Valentino Rossi, and Spain's Dani Pedrosa.

I can't find any media other than a trailer that looks too good to be Wii. The game is also on 360, PC & PS3.

Also out this week:
Deal Or No Deal (US version)
The Clumseys (a game that there is no info on)

Region: Japan Genre: Tennis
Developer: Camelot Software Planning/ Publisher: Nintendo

Another GC port for the Wii, I'm hoping that the wiimote controls improve it rather then ruin it. Only thing I did like about the GC game was the power shots.

The Mushroom Kingdom has hosted tennis tournaments before, but never one as explosive as this one. The wild multiplayer action of the smash Nintendo 64 hit, Mario Tennis, returns with even more powerful shots and new, character-specific power-ups guaranteed to make for the craziest matches ever! Instead of just striking a ball back and forth, opponents in Mario Tennis will launch flaming volleys and slam hits with oversized mallets. Gamers play amidst all-new courts and obstacles, as well as some new characters and game modes. For example, you now get to play in the courts of Luigi's Mansion and below the packed stadiums of Peach Dome. Each court brings its own set of challenges. Each character also boasts his/her own set of moves, and each of them fitting the personality of its respective character.

* Choose your friends wisely. Power characters like Donkey Kong and Bowser can hit insanely powerful Megaton Balls, finesse players like Shy Guy can use instant Tornado Returns and defensive masters like Luigi have all kinds of tricks in their bags!
* With one- to four-player modes available, players of all ages can pick up the game and instantly start whacking tennis balls around, and yet a deep level of skill awaits those willing to master it. Build up more and more skill points as you play to use stronger and stronger shots with all kinds of spin!

Mario Power Tennis will support play both through the Wiimote on its own and through a Wiimote/Nunchuck combo, the latter presumably allowing you to control your characters on the court. I already have this on the GC and to be honest I can't I'm that fussed about Wii controls for it (I'd rather they spent the time making a new game) but a lot of people missed it the first time so this is for them, its a shame that they didn't add WFC to it as that would have attracted more people who already own the GC game to it. The US will have this on the 9th March. For some reason there aren't any pictures, just this trailer. Don't expect it to look much different.

Released 20th Febuary Genre: Squad Based Shooter aka CANNON FODDER CLONE!
Developer: Most Wanted Entertainment Publisher: Virgin Play

Sensible Software won't give us a new Cannon Fodder, so we're gonna have to make do with this nice looking clone. Some of you may have remembered me writing about this game when it was called "The Expandables".

They are deadly, they are confident, they are dumb... and they finally got an assignment. The fate of the world's lamest international private army is in your hands. Can you help them to overcome their weaknesses and accomplish various missions in different parts of the world or their very first job will be the last one, too...?

'B-Team' is a humorous, squad-based shooter with cartoonish graphics in which the player assumes control over a small private army whose "soldiers" were hired from all over the world. While the game's chief focus is intense and fun action, the upgradeable equipment, and the interactive environment further enriches the experience and the game offers hours and hours of fun for Nintendo DS Players.

* Squad-based shooter - a new game style on the Nintendo DS (erm Operation: Vietnam did that first)
* Over 35 intense missions on 4 varied locations
* Fully destructible environment
* Highly challenging end boss fights
* Diverse powerups
* Cartoonish graphics, hilarious characters, humorous animations and visual gags
* Special visual effects (explosions, rain, snow)
* Hi-score system and tons of unlockable extras

As you can see in the video, you move the soilders by tapping on the screen and I assumed shooting is done by some button. The game has been a long time coming but I hope it does come out next month. The people developing this game also made the pretty good "Mechanic Master" and they also have a few other games for the DS one of which is next.

Ant Land

Released 20th Febuary Genre: Puzzle
Developer: Most Wanted Entertainment Publisher: TBA

Another good looking game from MWE. This game is obviously inspired by Lemmings but seems to add more to the genre.

They say, the rulers of Antland are the Queens of the City. Strong and big hives that managed to survive in the world of the humans and skim off a greasy bit of the vast wealth of this paradise. Our heroine is the queen of a remote hive lying deep in the forest who has never heard about high buildings, noisy cars or Big Mac. At least not until one day when they find a wounded winged ant who tells fabulous stories of a distant land which is so abundant in food that the ants living there cannot find big enough pits to store them. From that day, the Queen never stops dreaming about their life in the City and finally decides that the hive moves there. So the great journey begins. The colony travels from hive to hive, getting closer to their goal with each passing day, struggling with the countless challenges, living from the resources they find on their way?in the hope they will reach the Land of Promises.

Antland is a unique puzzle game that requires fast thinking and good puzzle solving skills. The aim is to guide your ants, who are marching forward relentlessly and mindlessly, through many tricky challenges, while helping them collect food needed for their survival, to the land of their dreams. In doing this, you need to utilize the various items in the inventory and scattered around the levels to evade the obstacles, traps and "enemies" in the ants' way.

Key Features

* Innovative game concept
* Easy to play, hard to master gameplay that appeals to both casual and more hardcore gamers of all age
* 4 diverse and beautiful locations (Forest, Picnic Area, City, House)
* Use and combine dozens of items to guide your ants through numerous obstacles, deadly traps, and save them from hideous enemies

This is one of those games that thrives on the DS and I really hope that someone picks this game up to publish.

Puzzle Quest: Galatrix

Released Q4 08 Genre: Puzzle RPG
Developer: Infinite Interactive Publisher: D3 Publisher

Freaking lurved the first game, man did it eat up some of my time! Still play it nowadays, on my DS & even my phone. This is the next game, but this time the fantasy look has switched to sci-fi.

In Puzzle Quest: Galactrix a horrifying scientific accident has provoked another race to attempt extermination of humankind; players will create a persistent pilot who gains skills, crafts items, maneuvers among the universe's political factions, and upgrades the ultimate space fleet as they attempt to end the genocide. An innovative hexagonal puzzle board allows for a wide range of strategic depth as it heeds to gravity according to a player's location in the game universe. A rich and detailed storyline and fresh gameplay elements make the world of Puzzle Quest: Galactrix a captivating new adventure to explore and conquer.

From IGN's preview: "At first glance it looks like Hexic, and it is another match-three game, but it operates as though it were in zero gravity. Pieces refresh in the direction of your move -- slide a tile up, and new pieces appear from the bottom of the screen. Once you get a feel for it, you should be able to control the flow of battle and keep your opponent from getting the matches they need.

Although the tiles are hexagons, a match can only be made in a straight line. Whereas a match-four previously gave us an extra turn, now we have to match at least five to go again. Also, there is now no penalty for making a wrong move, other than losing your turn."

The hexagonal grid should add more of a challenge to the game and make this title its own game rather than just another Puzzle Quest, but with a different setting. Sadly unlike the other versions it won't have online play which to me is a stupid & cheap decision, especially seeing how well the DS version of the first game did.

The Dark Spire

Released March 10th Genre: First Person Dungeon Crawler
Developer: Success Publisher: Atlus Co

Back in May '08, a game titled Genma no Tou to Tsurugi no Omote was published by Success in Japan. Back then I said something like "wouldn't it be great if Atlus picked this up for a Western release?" and as usual they did what I wanted.

The powerful Archmage Tyrhung resides in a tower of mist and shadow. He holds in his possession a jewel of great worth and power. A group of adventurers assemble. Will they be able to conquer Tyrhung and his nefarious tower? The party sets out, its fate yet to be determined... "We are the Knights who say... NI!" Continuing the tradition of Etrian Odyssey, Atlus's The Dark Spire is the next great homage to the RPG classics of old.

The Dark Spire is an RPG of exploration and character development in the tradition of classic old-school RPGs, complete with party assembly options, roll-for-stats gameplay, and a wide variety of items, weapons and armor to equip. Some adventurers will choose to play using the "modern" interface, its bold, stylized textures and palettes delivering a fresh, up-to-date adventure. Others may opt for the "classic" mode, guaranteed to evoke overwhelming sensations of nostalgia as it perfectly recreates the style and simplicity of the fathers of the genre. Two different presentation modes, two different ways to experience The Dark Spire!

I'll be playing this in black & white wireframe mode and 8 bit sound when it comes out. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Wow... Will Mario Tennis be coming out in the US as well? I LOVED that game on the GC (and GBA too) and I was hoping they would make another one for the Wii. Even though its a GC port its still cool. I wish they would have made the GBA one into the Wii one for the story element of the game.

Well, Moon will definitely be enough for me. Though Dementium was pretty much a bust for me, and in spite of the fact that the story was a total letdown and the enemies and halls were repetitive, it still had a ton going for it. Really, so long as they don't implement something as asinine as Dementium's save system -- and Watsham says they didn't -- I'll be satisfied. Looks like a fun, if generic, FPS. Good enough for me.

B-Team looks fun. Hadn't heard about it before this, so that's one to look forward to.

Wow, Etrian Odyssey 1 & 2 must have been really successful if they're giving us The Dark Spire. Awesome news.
