Which one is better than the other and what makes them different...
Do the games have different compatibilites or features which makes games only work for NDSL?
And finally R4 works in either of them or not?

The DS Lite is better, obviously. Otherwise, they'd still be making the DS Phat.

No, they don't have any compatibility issues. Yes, the R4 works on both.

You can drill more holes into the speaker place DS Lite to make it more audible

I haven't done this, but I figure it'll work as the plastic muffles the sound, and the speaks are quite large compared to the area covered by the drilled holes

DS phat is ugly.

The screen is much less bright on the DS Phat than on the DS Lite.

That would work but you would have to line up all the holes so it wouldnt look crap

lite i use to have a phat and can say i love my lite compared to the phat

I really liked the feel of the phat a lot more than the lite, especially the control pad and the location of the start and select buttons. I still sold it and got a lite, just because of the huge improvement in the LCD screens.

As someone who waited over a year for the Lite to be released, the answer should be clear as day.

Get the Lite, dammit! Down with teh pHat!

Unless you intend to inflict harsh punishment on it, then go get the pHat by all means.

I would save up if I had to choose... Save, save, save or wait for the payday. Depending do you work or do you live with your parents.

I'd still go for the Lite. Even though if it took me longer to get because it was a tad more expensive. It's worth the money. The LCD improvement alone.

PROS:
- Bettery battery life
- Better brightness (adjustable)
- Thinner, sexier and weigh less
- Better stylus that is actually usable

CONS:
- Old GBA games sticks out of it

- See the Lite pros.

you forgot better build for the pros of the phat.
ive done everything but torch my dsphat and its still working perfectly.
the hinge even got messed up but its still toghether(unlike that lite which gets ruined even if you handle it carefullyy) 3 months later

also, dont forget that powerful force called nostalgia.
its already there for some people
