Yep. Select the ROM on the flashcard, while "Games are on SD Card" is checked.

I did a converstion but I only got a file from forwader software a .nds file? Now what to do?

Using an R4 original and followed the guide while using the pack for original R4. When I try to launch the game, it just shows an error at the bottom screen. "failed to start YSMenu.nds"

Does the R4i-3DS RTS not work? Spent awhile trying to get it to function, forwarder gives me a white screen, and when I run the ysmenu from the cart, I get UNKNOWN_DLDI_TYPE error.

EDIT: Nevermind, noticed the website to obtain the kernal is one listed that isnt compatible.

Can you give a step by step tutorial?

1. Make sure the latest Java is installed.
2. Extract the contents of the .7z file with Forwarder3-DS included, into C:/Forwarder3-DS.

Actually, it never worked in the first place, so no.

took some time to tune it up, probably not fully understanding the tuto and some connection problem with original dstt and microsd card but now it works fine on O3ds Sysnand 11.0 Luma3ds 5.5. Installed Apache Thunder stage 2 launcher first which gives me access to all my nds games, but these forwarders provide fast access to my favourite ones so they sort of complement each other. thank you very much for your attention and patience

This does everything in Java, excepting the generating the CIA part. You can install Java in MacOS or Linux and get the NDS files with the program. If there was a Linux/Mac version of "makecia" and "ndstool", I would add those as soon as possible, so you could generate the CIA too, without using the make_cia.exe in Windows.

Pretty sure ndstool comes with devkitARM.

Oh. Alright then. I didn't look at those before, sorry. And I'm not a homebrew developer at all, so I didn't know about that. Thanks. I'll add them for the next update, which should be really soon, since Robz8 already told me about the new R4 template.
