Hacking Ncard TWEWY mingle mode problem

My friend has a Ncard with TWEWY and when she does mingle mode with another friend who has the real game cartridge it doesn't work (they register as civvies not ESPers.) Any solution to this problem?

I've never actually played TWEWY, but part of the problem may be the save type setting; have her change the savetype from auto.
