but i think sony is stupid to not include this in the firmware already.

i know they didnt in order to sell umdmovies, but hey, sony, WAKE tf UP! umd is DEAD!

so: does anybody here know a better player than psp player mt that plays native divx/xvid?

Actually, they say Sony is preparing DivX support on the 4.0 firmware.
Don't lose hope just yet.

About your question, there was... no wait, that was the one you mentioned. You'll have to convert your movies, PSP Video 9 is always a great option.

But no one uses offical firmware.

I recently purchased a GP2X F2000. One of its best features is divx support. I don't want to wait for Sony to correct this oversight. I'm hoping the hackers will bring divx support for the PSP. If they did I'd run to the shops and buy the biggest MS I could find.

There's just the problem that divx and xvids are pretty big. And memorycards are small. :A
I've only 1gb mem stick. I could put one movie there. : p

i have a 4gb card, and i think if i put 2 movies on it i would be fine.

my battery wont even last longer to watch 3 i think.

Yeah people use Custom Firmware that is simply hacked Sony firmware, so if Sony introduces Divx/Xvid playback in future firmware then Dark Alex and co would simply hack it to be custom firmware.

In short custom firmware has all the features of official firmware.

Have you tried Pimpstreamer? I think it's better to stream videos rather than taking up space on your memory stick.

Yeah pimpstreamer is really good, I use it in my house all the time, check it out if you have not already. But of coarse for on the go is a different story. Hopefully OFW 4.00 will be out soon, then CFW 4.00 right behind it with native divx support, ive been waiting for this since the rumors started going around.

I used amaris DVD to psp to rip movies to psp format. Each movie was about 500-800mb in best quality, i fit about 4 or 5 movies on 4gb memory stick.
