Hello.:)

you don't need sneek on the sd card if using uneek. I don't know if that's causing the issue, but you might want to wait for @Cyan . he's the expert at sneek. that screen looks familiar, but I haven't used sneek on the wii in over a decade. a black screen might be good, because it black screens when it loads sneek or uneek. it waits until it loads the entire nand, so if you have many games, it could take a while. that's why it's best only to have games that need neek, so even though everything would be ideal, it's not a smart thing to do.

you can tell something is happening by the usb activity light. if it's flashing, it's probably working.
let's wait for the boy

Here is the Guide from @Cyan for the Setup:

Here his Guide for manually compiling the Files:

And here his Guide for using emuNAND with USBLoader GX:

Good Luck.
Thank you.:)

I have mine setup perfectly on the virtual wii, but I don't recall the wii setup. I wasn't using usb loader gx back then, only cfg usb loader. I think I had to click on a channel on the wii home menu, but I'm not sure. usb loader gx makes it much easier though.

I don't think you need any files on your sd card if using uneek. uneek2o works perfectly fine for me, and this is my sd card on the virtual wii:

When you setup neek2o through ModMii, it should have downloaded (neek2o NK2O_1.wad). You need to install this wad using WFL wad installer.

Settings/Nand Emulation Settings = Click Set.
NAND Emulation Settings Page 2 /
Install Wad = Click Go
Find the wad file mentioned on you SD/USB and install.
You should be set now.

SD is not required for anything if you are using. neek2o. Personally, using USB GX or WFL to dump NAND has never failed, while creating NAND through ModMii is not stable.

I don't know what could be wrong. using the old way of downloading sneek with tortoise svn, I had no issues. however, I didn't use neek2o on the wii, only on the wii u. the wii u version is supposed to be a leaked version.

I don't think you need any files on your sd card if using uneek.
It depends how he is booting neek.
if using USBLoaderGX, then SD card files are not needed.
If using nswitch on vWii, I don't remember if it's still relying on SD card or not. I'd say it does because there's no user's option, unlike USBGX.

if using nswitch (he clearly does) on Wii then they are needed, as it relies on bootmii.
it means you ALSO need bootmii as IOS !!!
which most guides might have make you skip installing, or didn't even mention, or you replaced it with stub version from nintendo.

so, using nswitch requires more files, which are not required when using USBGX.

nswitch
bootmii IOS (Slot254)
sd:/bootmii/armboot.bin (actually sneek booter, looking for sd:/sneek/kernel.bin file)
SD:/sneek/kernel.bin (USB version)
USB:/sneek/kernel.bin (USB version)
USB:/nands/mynand/

compared to :

USBLoaderGX
USB:/sneek/kernel.bin (USB Version)
USB:/nands/mynand/

optionally:
SD:/sneek/kernel.bin (SD version)
SD:/nands/mynand/

having both neek version at the same time allows USBGX to boot either SD or USB without having to change the "neek version" in sd:/sneek/ folder.

Note:
neek2o seems to work better if it's in a subfolder.
x:/mynand/ <-- should work
x:/subfolder/mynand/ <-- seems to work better. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's why I changed folders to /nands/01/ by default in USBGX.

Just a general question :
you want NAND on USB so you want Uneek ?
Are you SURE you need neek or you only want NAND on USB ?
because you know, you do NOT need neek to have NAND on USB, you can just use USBLoaderGX's emuNAND cIOS mode "Full" feature with NAND on USB all the same.

neek is usually useful only for specific problematic games, or in case you'd like to try editing/theming sysmenu or creating new animated banners from scratch without bricking.

I'm interested in that part.
where do I get these files to mount?

imo, neek is the most complicated thing to do on the wii or vwii, especially if you had to do it the old way with tortoise svn among other apps to create the files manually. however, once you figure it out, everything is pretty easy to do by comparison.

you shouldn't need to compile neek youself from svn.
You need the compiled files (linked in many threads, also on the tutorial linked above, first post of page 2)
then use "neek installer" from Crediar, click 2 buttons, DONE !

Crediar's installer is downloading the needed IOS file from Nintendo's servers, patches it using compiled nintendont files, and generate kernel and armboot files you don't even need.

Modmii is doing the same thing.
If modmii has issue downloading neek's compiled files, you should report to @XFlak, he is in the process of updating it, we better fix broken links before release.

yeah, I'm aware of that. that's why I mentioned it being the "old way.." I used a tutorial on hacksden when I built mine back on the wii, and it used svn to download the files from a website, but the vwii neek2o was just a download instead.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

The tutorial was by @JoostinOnline who I think is a member here as well.

yes, it was more for Johw that I said he doesn't need to use svn/tortoise/compiling the sources.
he can just use Crediar's installer (that's what I'm using, I find it very easy, no idea why nobody use it if they are on windows).

For vwii Neek2o, the version floating around is a prepatched kernel, which might be hard (or not) to find. just a "search" away, it's on this forum ;) just not liking or bumping that thread.

Or there's always JoostinOnline's vWii Neek (not 2o) explaining how to patch the IOS's app file with neek to generate the vWii Neek kernel.

That's a known issue with the current version of modmii, it's only applicable to folks who haven't already used a modmii feature requiring winrar

This info from the first post of the Modmii thread will resolve your issue until I release an update very soon

ModMii for Windows
by XFlak
SNIP...

NOTE: Effective late October 2020, the following minor BUG exists in ModMii preventing UNRAR from being downloaded, which is required for ModMii to install (S)NEEK, until an update in released (hopefully soon-ish), please follow the directions in my post quoted below as a workaround

the download link I was using (not my own) is no longer working for some reason, if you add UnRAR.exe to your temp folder it should work for you

edit:
thanks for reporting this, I will address this in the next ModMii update

edit2:
Until I push an update, to fix this, open ModMii.bat in notepad or notepad++, and edit replace all the following:
Code:
https://ayera.dl.sourceforge.net/project/menuui/UnRAR.exe
with this:
Code:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/menuui/files/UnRAR.exe

Jan 2021 Edit:
One more workaround until an update is released very very soon

Fat 32 gui formatter download is broken in modmii, but this is fixed in the latest beta which should hopefuy be released soon. In the meantime you can get this from here: http://ridgecrop.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm
