Hacking N64 games running on Wii?

So you just edited the ROM to be a .gcm and burned it to a DVD and it ran? What exactly did you do?

This is awesome if you didn't need to put an emulator on there. It means the Wii really has hardware (or at least software running in the background) for Wii/GCN/N64.

All I did was use a program to replace a .n64 file in a .gcm file with the game of my choice.

As far as I know, no emulators used, but I can't be sure.

that is a "gamecube" game (zelda) i.e. a nintendo-made emulator running the rom. That's why you can replace it but it won't work with a lot of games.
