doesnt smashbros has its own official release?
Yeah, but official VC release of Super Smash Bros. 64 for Wii used romc Type 2 compression, unlike Star Fox 64 or Sin & Punishment official VC releases of Wii from Nintendo that didn't use any kind of compression on the rom file.

is there any difference gameplay-wise? if they are compressed or not?
Not many differences, @pedro702 ... Only a very few minor visual glitches on score after fighting that doesn't affect gameplay, luckily. :)

Would it be possible to change video mode of european Majora's Mask to force it 60 hz on a Wii PAL console? Is there any modification for that?
Hey @totakeke95 , please see again your question, because I've edited the solution. wwPacker is only if you have a NTSC-U Wii and you want to play the PAL release in NTSC. For PAL consoles, just modify the Wii Settings to PAL60 for run it on 60 FPS.
Please read again my answer, and tell me if it worked ;)

Do you think anything could be done to make the L and R buttons on GameCube controllers work with only a half press instead of having to do a full click?
I'm not sure about this can be hacked. I don't know much programming, but I know that author glankk (https://github.com/glankk) made a controller mapping fix hack when using a Nintendo GameCube Controller in VC release for Wii "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time".
That controller fix hack later was used by krimtonz (http://github.com/krimtonz) for his gzinject tool (http://github.com/krimtonz/gzinject). ;)

Smash Bros is compatible with the Expansion pack and you get a few upgrades for using it, so definitely is one of the Roms that should get "upgraded".

Sure is just better graphics and slightt faster load times but is still quite good.
Okay thanks for that info @raxadian, I will try to apply the Expansion Pak fix for apply to my injected SSB64 WAD for see how's the performance, loading times and better graphics rendering. :)

smash bros has no expansion pack effect, there is nothing that makes difference in original hardware since the game is coded to just use 4mb ram and not 8, so unless they changed it in virtual console on original hardware there is no effect.

I was sure in the options you can turn on better graphics if you have the expansion pack on. However it has been years since I played the game and it turns out I confused it with another game.

Some games actually are worse ot crash with the expansion pack on.

While I have only seen it once, at least one sport game crashes sometimes with the exoansion pack on. Then again that game also got the save file erased later on so many something was wrong with it. The game could save to the memory card so either it also saved using a battery in the cardridge or something weird was going on

The most infamous game to crash is the Space Station Silicon Valley game, but not in the Pal version.

There is the list, I don't know if any game with long load times not on the list benefits or not.
It may be possible to force any game with long load to use the extra Ram but that's not something I know how to do.

I would also try injecting StarCraft 64 on Wii which requires Expansion Pak and this fix will open the door to Wii VC

Wiiware has a size limit, is supposed to be 40 mb but is actually like 43 to 50 mb I think? Unless wads take less space after being installed? So some Nintendo 64 games will not be able to be ported to Wiiware.

Unless someone has figured a workaround for this?

Nintendo 64 games on Wii VC has a size limit, not of 40 MB, 43 MB nor 50 MB. he size limit of N64 ROM files of the game is just 32 MB, which is a very big disadvantage of N64 Wii VC injection.
Here's a small incomplete list of N64 games which size it's more than 32 MB:
  • Pokémon Stadium 2 (64 MB)
  • Conker's Bad Fur Day (64 MB)
  • Resident Evil 2 (64 MB)
  • Dinosaur Planet (Leaked Proto/Beta builds) (64 MB)
  • Many Super Mario 64 (SM64) hacks (48 MB - 64 MB) (some of them work if you follow aglab2's tutorial and tools for inject them)
Greetings ;)

That does explain why there is no way to make Pokemon Stadium 2 work correctly. And why Nintendo didn't port more N64 games on the Wii.

Thank you.

Space Station Silicon Valley for N64 (at least the USA / NTSC-U version) has worse compatibility with the N64 Expansion Pak, I tested it and I realized that the game crashes randomly on certain places if the Expansion Pak is present, (because of incompatibility with 8 MB RAM memory), so for play that game with no trouble we have to keep the Jumper Pak (which gives just 4 MB of RAM instead of 8 MB).

You're welcome. I really want the N64 VC emulation compatibility grow on Wii.
