Again its pointless.
Its the same as not using that hekate build because nightlies dont utilize the new code thats possible because of it..

to be honest i notice there is a very similar file in nightly its a slightly different size very small same filename did as you said tho and saw further improvement

any recommended goldeneye settings?

The recompile times are as good now as they will ever become with that setup.
As for goldeneye: Framerate: Fullspeed, VI Overclock: 2200
The rest is up to you to figure out.

I tried ocarina of time and it works much better. Thank you very much m4xw for you work.

I changed the configuration manually with the options of page 26. I use retroarch with full ram (nro through hbl with redirection). However, there is some stuttering and sound crackling, in portable mode and docked. Is it normal? Is there anything I could do to solve it?

And another question: in what directory can I find the mupen64 next cfg file?
Please, could anybody help me with this?

Thanx in advance

Sorry if this has been answered before but i'm struggling to get this to work and not sure if I am doing this right. This is what I am doing:

Note: Running SX OS

  1. Download the latest nightly build of RetroArch for the switch.
  2. Extract and place the retroarch and switch folders on the root of the microSD card.
  3. Download mupen64plus_dynarec_beta.
  4. Extract and place the retroarch folder on the root of the microSD card overwriting new files.
  5. Download retroarch_mupen_cfg.
  6. Extract and place retroarch.cfg and retroarch-core-options.cfg in the root of the retroarch folder.
  7. Boot up CFW and navigate to homebrew/retroarch.
  8. Launch Retroarch.
  9. Load mupen64plus core.
  10. Load n64 game.
  11. Play.
First time I tried this and loaded Mario64 the game ran really slow. Second time I tried, after loading the core, it just stayed on a black screen till my switch gave me an error causing me to reboot.

Step 3 and 4 are not necessary. When you download latest nightly build you're already getting the latest mupen64plus_next, you're probably then downloading an older version (I'm guessing from the first post in this thread, which is old) and overwriting it. Start from scratch and skip step 3 and 4. Also to get the proper ram boost with SX OS you need to start any game while holding R, you'll know it worked because it'll go to the homebrew. That's what gives you the boost to give you proper speed in games. You'll need to do this once everytime you power on your Switch. If you leave it in sleep mode you won't have to do it again.

Also make sure you run mupen64plus_next core and not mupen64plus it sounds like you're not choosing next so again you're running the wrong core. Also don't load Retroarch from the album you should be ok with the retroarch nsp. you were doing everything basically the wrong way lol no offense, but I had trouble in the beginning too.

Thank you very much! Everything is working now and I have a better understanding. I am using the NSP as you suggest and everything seems to be working. I did not need to hold down R and im assuming that because its the NSP compared to the homebrew version.

Mario64 worked just as well as the N64 itself. I noticed a minor stutter every so often, but im assuming stuff like that is expected for now.

Thanks again for your help and taking the time to respond to me.

Where can I get retroarch.cfg and retroarch-core-options.cfg?

I copied the settings for mupen64-next of page 26, but I don’t know where I should get the retroarch.cfg.

Edit: Is this what I should use? https://m4xw.net/nextcloud/index.php/s/g663mit7LA3RwcW

This is changing so fast and I don’t know if these are the latest configuration files.

I have the same error i thought it fixed itself when i updated but it only worked a few times then error code 2168-0001. What error code are you getting?

Retroarch.cfg is generated upon booting Retroarch for the first time. I believe retroarch-core-options.cfg is generated when you make a change to a settings specific to a core in quickmenu/options. They appear in the retroarch folder. Once they've been generated you can open them in a text-editor and paste your settings in. You can also manually input the settings using the data your looking to paste into the .cfg by using it as a legend. The latter seems easier to me though either should work. The author has also posted both .cfgs in this thread you can drop those in your retroarch folder.

Hey guys and gals,

Just tried Animal Forest (animal crossing for n64) and I'm getting a hard black screen after the intro. Any Ideas?

Doubutsu no Mori (Japan) name for animal forest works perfectly for me i am featuring it in tonights stream

for those with sxos you must use hekate and you should use atmosphere or kosmos cfw. retroarch nsp no work. homebrew nsp no work. must be an eshop title that has been added to loader.ini in atmosphere folder. No other supported way. If you want quality like this

Thats what i did

I’m having trouble with the DK64 camera problem workaround. Here’s what’s been posted:

1 Start ROM
2 Turn FBEmu On
3 Set RDRAM Depth stuff: Software (fromMem does not work)
4 Close ROM & start ROM again
5 Get ingame
6 Do a Savestate
7 Turn FBEmuoff, RDRAM stuff back or whatever
8 Close ROM & start ROM again
9 Load Savestate
10 Stays fixed whenever u load that savestate

I assume step 2 is to set Framerate Buffer Emulation to “true”, right?

I’m getting to step 5, and when I try to start a new game after changing those two settings it always freezes on a black screen. Without changing those two settings I can get in game fine, but of course with the camera issues.
