Hacking N3ds xl FW 9.8.0-25u downgrade help.

So i bought a N3DS XL on fw 9.8.0-25u and i have a gateway also.

I want to use it, but it the gateway supports 9.2 and below.

Whats the safest way to downgrade?(Without bricking)

There's no "safest way" but you can search a guide with Google with the name safesysupdater and read the guide carefully!

Btw is there a difference in sysupdater and safesysupdater?

safesysupdater checks files before downgrading (right region,right model etc)

Nothing, safesysupdater use same code to downgrade but first checks all the cia"s if there correct

just a tip, it worked for me.
update to 10.3 first it seems to have less softbrick chance.
and make sure DNS is on auto!!!! u can use recover mode to save softbrick so u dont need to use hardmode to downgrade.
and make sure that u download files with 3dnus, hopefully that nint*ndo wont do any funny stuff in the future.

if more question just ask before downgrading.

tutorial:
Format system memory (this will reset your (N)3ds) (you don't have to this if you haven't launched browser app before doing this)
after reset go to system settings then internet settings then connection settings then click on connection 1 or 2 or 3 (depends on witch you use) then click change settings then click on right arrow then click on dns then click on no then click on detailed setup
set primary and secondary dns to 107.211.140.065 then click ok and then save then click don't test then turn off (N)3ds
Put your sd card into pc (via card reader or just via laptops card reader) download starter kit form smealum then extract everything from rar to 3ds sd card then download 9.2.0 system cia (just type [MEGA] [CIA/BIN] MSET 4.X & 6.X backups, Browser backups, Update packs (All Regions) go to 3dsiso site that appears in google search and connect with facebook) than open 9.2.0-20e/u/j(Full)_(N)3DS and extract updates folder to sd (if you have japanese (N)3ds delete 000400102002CA00.cia) then download safesysupdater (just type it in google search click on one that says wip) extract it to sd/3ds/
then put sd in (N)3ds and power on then press home menu settings (left icon on top) click on change theme and then click cancel then press l and r buttons at the same time until camera appears click on icon above quit button and scan this QR code

when you boot up homebrew swipe down until you see menuhax_manager and click on it then click install after it installs click b then start then you will be broth back to homebrew launcher then power off (N)3ds

press l and keep it pressed then power on (N)3ds while l is pressed and wait few seconds you will be in homebrew launcher then swipe down until you see sysupdater and click on it and click downgrade after it downgrades it will restart you and you will get black screen(this might not happen) if you do get it power of your (N)3ds and take out sd card then power on (N)3ds without sd card in it and it will boot then check settings and boom 9.2.0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

once you install menuhax you should reset DNS to auto in case of soft brick, just in case.
and NOT SURE if DNS can make downgrade process go wrong but when i try with DNS set up to 107.211.140.065 it just soft brick and cant use recovery mode.

it doesn't , you have to take sd card out when downgraded

I did this and it worked. I downgraded my N3DS XL that was on 9.8.0-25E to 9.2.0-20E.

The downgrade crashed once on me and rebooting didn't seem to work. Yet recovery mode (L+R+Start+A) did work. I removed the SD card and it booted again. I deleted all files from the SD card and did the whole thing again, now I'm on 9.2.0-20E. It seemed the second time everything worked out.

I'm a bit worried that something is off, but I haven't seen a single crash yet and HBL works perfectly.
