Not want to argue, but again: there are offline themehax installers compiled by members on this forum. Yes it still needs an entry point to HBL to install, but in no way you need internet. Smealum is like on the official side of the homebrew scene, while on this forum, there is unofficial compiled/modified version.I updated my RxTools EmuNand on a 2ds from 6.1.(8)<-? to 10.1 and the system updated the SysNand to 10.2. I am 100% sure I was in the EmuNand state. It shouldn't have booted me out of RxTools and updated the SysNand midway. And, no. You actually need internet to install Themehax according to Smea. He stated on his HB App; Themehax installer: You need an active internet connection to install Themehax. But I couldn't rely on HB all the time; it didn't boot on certain versions. And my rate of failure is only because I tested it on all firms just to see. I don't always trust what they say on the version because I've gotten certain exploits to some extent on higher firmware than what was stated to be impossible. I still use Ironhax 1.0 on 10.1. Isn't that supposed to be impossible? Maybe my EmuNand partition is slightly corrupted? I'm not sure. But, still... I'm buying an older XL anyways. Less money to spend, less worries, and overall, more Gateway!
EDIT: I also couldn't for the life of me find an alt to install GW on the N3DS XL with a MSET insallation. And I am NOT installing anything bad on my SysNand.

If you have trouble or having some exceptional work around, why not asking, sharing and providing proof so developers and look into it and perhaps help the community more? Yes, developers are really interested in those outline workaround, because they may give them an idea/ workaround concept to work on newer hax.
***Update: Just look at this, this member was able to find a method use DS mode flash card on EMUNAND, which is unheard (impossible) before this! He said he found this method by an accident! I don't want to get into personally issues like: why you updated EMUNAND but ended up with updated SYSNAND, untouched working themehax turn into unworkable, buying O3DS after discussing on N3DS thread while 9.0 N3DS available, couldn't install MSET for GW on N3DS (there is a very obvious reason/straightforward answer if you just ask for explanation rather than running yourself into dead end) got scammed on Ebay without reporting, disputing... Just saying on this forum, people like @Ronhero, have successfully done many of those things (not counting the impossible things though) you said you failed to do, on way many different Old or New 3DS/2DS (different region too) and they don't seem to have the problem like you. I don't touch as many 3DS consoles as they do, but I can tell in many cases, the problem lies with the the user, not the exploit method itself.
