when I get into the updater it gets to #5 then freezes any help
Try shufflehax, run FTBrony, exit back to HBL by pressing B twice, then run the program.

Also, it takes a couple of tries. I saw someone in this thread try like 75 times until it worked for them, but I managed to do it in 3 reboots.

Got it! Pressed Y and now it's showing Getting CIA file information and going forward. How long should this process take?

I'll report my results once it finishes. I used shufflehax as my entrypoint so I'll need to remove the Nintendo 3DS and Themes folder, right? Anything else?

Less than 5 minutes. Good luck, hope it doesn't brick. Can you post your results/entrypoint/region/firmware/model when you're done?

Process finished, device successfully rebooted by itself. I'm now on 9.2.0-20U, no noticeable issues at the moment.

Here's the info;

Model: 3DS XL, Black
Firmware: Started at 10.3.0U, downgraded to 9.2.0-20U successfully, by the looks of it.
Results: Downgrade successful, it would seem. Took me a few tries to get into the installer (around 10), but I managed to do it by exiting ftpBrony NORMALLY (as in pressing B, not force closing with L+R+Down+B). Installation finished in a few minutes and the device rebooted itself after ten seconds. No issues even though I used Shufflehax as my entrypoint an Browserhax as my initial entrypoint. You can refer back to my original post in this thread to see the exact steps I took to make sure this would go as safe as possible if you think it'll help others.

I can provide screenshots if you need proof, although I don't have a screenshot of me being on 10.3.0, sorry. :(

Congratulations! We're starting to get more reports of bricks, so it's good to hear a success.

I'm hearing a lot of bricks coming from non-XL N3DS . I don't think I've heard of any other bricks though? (My memory is bad after all these different reports, whoops)

I wasn't hardmodded, so I took a risk. Any guide I should use to set up an emunand and CFW now? And what should I do with the data on my SD card since I only have the homebrew programs on there? Nuke it before installing Shufflehax again?
