I'm confused, because I followed the troubleshooting on the guide and my n3ds, which is on the latest luma and system version, turns off every time I try to boot through dsi menu plus plus

Did you update to the latest v5.3.1 of DSiMenu++?
What about the instructions provided at its thread?
Instructions (No flashcard, 3DS/2DS users)
  1. In the 7z file, extract the "_nds" and "cia" folders, and the "boot.nds" file, to the SD Card root.
  2. Put .gb/.gbc/.nes/.nds ROMs anywhere on your SD card.
  3. Enable game patching in Luma settings, if you have Luma CFW.
  4. Install all 2 CIAs in the "cia" folder.
  5. IMPORTANT!: Install DSiMenu++ Launcher, and launch it.
    DSiMenu++ Launcher will launch DSiMenu++ on 3DS/2DS.
  6. Set some settings (Boot screen, Notif LED, etc.) to your preference.
  7. Select "Start DSiMenu++".

Perhaps you need to fix the TWL DSi firmware?

Now I went to go delete the dsimenu cia to install the new one, and every time I attempt to install the new version I don't get the launcher on my home screen.
