Homebrew [N3DS exclusive] ScreenInfo.3dsx by SciresM -- check IPS or TN

This application is N3DS exclusive due to the system call at the heart of it (GSPLCD_GetVendors()) not being implemented on O3DS.

It is comparable to CTRAging's Debug4 feature, which tells you the brand of your screens; it has some advantages:
-Libre and legally distributable software
-Does not need a 40+ MB download and install if your only purpose is checking screen types
-Directly tells you TN or IPS instead of panel brand

IPS = No Fading
TN = Fading

That's very subjective, unless you're doing a (ahem) side by side comparison...
My console is dual TN and has more than enough viewing angle = stabilized 3D has a lesser angle than my definition of tolerable colors

I tested it out on my new 3DS. It says upper screen is IPS and lower screen is TN. So guess lucky me i got one in the screen that you look at most.

Not that i could tell the difference but why does it matter? If the game still works can be played and seen, then shouldn't that be enough to be happy?

I doubt old 3DS meant to work with this.

Be careful what you wish for, that's a prime excuse for adding new bootrom keys and having the N3DS 9.6+ emunand scandal repeating...

Or maybe no SD (2 GB chip for extdata) and no network

Maybe there will be another revision of 3DS.
Who knows? Only Nintendo...

Let's just wait and see what the NX has to offer since it's a console plus a handheld device or something.

Well, some people like the vibrant colors of IPS screens better. Problem is, they consume battery faster.

Why? it's something you only run one time. Just use homebrew launcher for that one time?

i'm pretty sure i got double tn, but i honestly don't get why people have such a problem with it. i've yet to find a reason to play at those weird angles where everything gets impossible to see.
and the colors are great one way or another.

i mean, i've seen the videos and screenshots online and they make it look like you can barely play unless youkeep a perfect viewing angle, but its really not a big deal.

True, but when you turn the 3ds off or the brightness is really low i think TN screens have more spots on them. Maybe that's just me remebering wrongly though.
