Hacking n3ds 3.1..... Should I update Classic Mode?

Im just wondering if its safe to update Classic Mode to 9.5 or if sysnand would be updated too

What happens if I play a .CIA installed in GW mode in classic mode

As long as it says GW3D next to the version number, its safe to update

Playing a cia shouldnt work in classic mode since it isnt signed, all classic mode does is region bypass
gateway mode has all the sig checks disabled allowing the roms, and cias to run

ok.. just wondering..because my daughter has US games she wants to play on her AUS n3ds. I already have CIAs installed in GW mode and she knows all her games are playable from there....but if shes in classic mode, shed only be able to play retail US games and not her CIAs... Im not letting her boot into GW menu on her own.

afaik, you would just simply not being able to launch it

If you try to run a homebrew/improperly signed CIA in Classic Mode, it'll just tell you to redownload the software from the eShop.
