A new found discovered it doesn’t just happen while running the game it happens anytime I try and open it

I’ve tried with other, well powered usb hubs and sd readers and none of them work.
Does this really have to be a hardrive.

most likely yes. flash drives often cause problems.

Mate, thanks I nether expected a reply so soon. I’m not new to modding but am certainly new to modding the wii u. If hardrives don’t work I’ll just get a rednand and a big ass sd card and install backups to the nad instead.

Get an external hard drive with a Y cable and everything will be fine

Only format that works from sd card is Loadiine, which is an outdated format that has trouble with some games and others load slow. It's not the end of the world to buy a hard drive they're dirt cheap these days. In fact they are less than sd cards.

A 1 TB sd card is like $400 usd
A 1 TB hard drive is like $45 usd
