Homebrew My old 4.5 3ds XL died. need a new, homebrewable one

Hi,

Today my old 3ds xl with fw 4.5 died (shuts down when i insert a cartridge)

So the problem with a new one is, that all of them have FW above 10.x .. (i tried many in different stores). The gateway can even only run things up to 9.2, so i switch to homebrew:

I found a used one with 9.6
Regarding to a thread here, this thing is able to run the http://smealum.github.io/3ds/ Homebrew Launcher.

My question is: Is there a way to edit my Pokemon ORAS and XY Save files with PKHex when launching them with Homebrew? They are .cia files.

I assume your .cia of Pokémon ORAS/XY are on your 4.5 3ds xl? Because you wouldn't be able to install those on a >9.3 3DS (technically eShop purchases are .cia installs but then why make the distinction?)

svdt allows you to read and write save files from games, both retail cartridges and digital games.

Save files can be dumped using homebrew
If I were you, I'd try to fix that 3DS.

@Pingouin7: The .cia are hacked roms: Sinking Sapphire/Rising Ruby and Neo X Y, hacks of original Pokemon games. I have them on my computer already patched. I just copied them to the 4.5 3DS XL and it worked. So it would not work with the new 9.6 3DS while running homebrew? (Just the same copy & paste method)?

@ketal: It is not possible to fix unfortunately. I exchanged the cartridge reader slot today and it still does not work
How can i dump save files with homebrew?


So what do you guys suggest that i can

a) run the .cia Hacked Roms on my computer on the 3ds i am about to buy
b) edit my save files of these hacked .cia files

I thought buying this 9.6 3DS XL, installing http://smealum.github.io/3ds/ Homebrew Launcher and using a method to dump my savegames would be everything i need.

If i could find a used 3ds xl with fw under 9.3 i would be very glad but there is none where i live. I mailed lots of people and already searched the local stores. All are over 10.x. mostly.

Dumb uestion: what if you insert the cartdrige when the 3DS is off? Seems like a cable ribbon issue anyway

I can not turn it on again. The Power led (or whatever lamp it is) just flashes one time and then it goes out again.

Does not matter if i use SC DSTWO, Original Pokemon X or Y or Gateway itself.

Just goes out.

Probably a fuse or one of the camera cables being loose.

This is just for homebrew, you need <=9.2 to install .cias

If you buy that one, you will have to get a game with 4.5 or so on it because CFW doesn't support anything below 4.x (at least I don't think so)

oh sorry it is 4.5!

@ falken: Nope, no sound at all. And it goes out instantly after the cartridge is "fixed" in the slot.

Yes i found it. It is under the plastic thingy.
So basically it would work the same. Very good.

all the same function as the gateway?
