I just plugged my MicroSD card into my Mac for the first time. I was not using the crappy reader that came with my M3 Simply (I know, I know, R4DS forum), but a Dazzle* reader. The card is a Kingston 1GB Taiwan. Then I went over to my PC so I could edit the cheat.dat for the EBA characters in Ouendan 2. And I was greeted with this:

To make sure my Windows machine wasn't being retarded I went back to my Mac:

Okay, so first of all, in Windows, I can't even upen the GAMES" folder. That used to be named Games. What the hell? And even weirder, on the Mac... I try and click on it and it physically disappears from the Finder. I try renaming it in the Terminal and it says that no such file or folder exists.

I'm..... I'm really confused and sad and angry right now

My poor Pokemon must miss me. And my beautiful Ouendan 2.... Gone, gone gone!

Weirdest problem ever. I don't really have a solution, I'm just here to say that I haven't had any problems with my card on my Mac (1GB Kingston J, OS X 10.4.9, using the reader that came with the R4). It never hurts to reformat, and I'd suggest using the PC if you've got it. Ah, a question for you: what version of OSX are you running? I ask because that screencap of the Finder window looks nothing like mine, and I'm running the most up to date official release. Did you manage to get a preview copy of Leopard, or do you have a skin program running on it?

Just a skin program (although I am using a Leopard mimic skin

And I know it's not the Mac's fault, since I've loaded mine up on my school's computers and it worked fine.

Then the only other Mac end problem I could see would be pulling the reader out before ejecting the card in Finder, but I'm going to assume you know about that. Any input from the PC guys?

Erm.... ahem...... god damnit. After using Windows for so long and learning that ejecting is for losers, it would appear that I'm responsible for my own torment. D:

One way that probably will not work: Cut and paste the folders you want to your desktop before reformatting your card
One way that probably will work: Just format your card. Go to google and search for a program called "Final Recovery" and download it. After formatting your card, run Final Recovery to recover the files lost during the formatting process.

Hope this helps.

ZAF, you've really saved me. Final Recovery did the trick!

I'm suspecting that the MBR or MFT was somehow corrupted, since all the files were still there. Hmmm.

The crappy reader would have killed the microSD card. The same thing happened on my PC, when I used the included card reader. My kingston taiwan microsd would no longer work. It wouldn't even be detected in any card reader.
