First of all I admit I sunk a lot of money into this device when there are many excellent Nintendo DS games which I have meant to play. The Vita looks cool. I wish that it weighed less though. I wish that more PS3 games allowed remote play.

I am really (mostly) enjoying Final Fantasy Tactics. I found a few abuses which bring the game down to my level. The remote play option - when a game enables it - lets me lounge in bed and unwind. I could add extensions to the gaming monitor cable and put the monitor by my bed, but I could never fall asleep then. The screen of the PS Vita is much easier on the eyes. Dual screens are not something that help me go to sleep.

Jeanne d'Arc was a disappointment. I am so bad at strategy games that I never got even half way through Fire Emblem but Jeanne d'Arc was no challenge.

Reasons for my purchase and happiness

Looks cool
Hopefully homebrew will let me use the AT&T connection for internet on my PC and PS3
games which I have wanted to play
good for unwinding

Another problem is that the Content Manager for the PC says that it only requires Media Player but it will not recognize Media Player 9.

i purchased mine as my psp had his last breath not long ago, but ended up fixing it (buying a broken one to salvage bits and pieces, frankenstein psp ftw) cause of homebrew really... mashin some forsaken64 and supermario with some zelda OOT now, and tapin' some patapons. battery life is a huge improvement over vita's as well... sure 5" screen, but come on oled screens aren't that thirsty... also games are way, way too expensive for my taste... if sony would do sales like steam etc. MOST DIGITAL RETAILERS, it would be quite awesome, but when i go and it has "discounts!" on games from 7.99 to 7.89, and see them put that at the top of the page... thats just pathetic... plus need the retarded PSN PLUS nonsence to get the 10p off...

games are cheaper to buy retail, physical copies, than ones on PSN so my 8gb card(free from amazon but still) is fairly useless other than for startdust... so once i fixed my psp i put vita on the shelve and pretty much forgot about it... if i could play my psp games on it, it would see plenty of lovin'. but now buying psp games again for full price non the less or even more on some instances is insanity...

hardware wise - a marvelous thing, company behind it wise - piece of brown pudding...

i was expecting like a bunch of ps3 titles to be ported to it, as on release sony was bragging on how easy it is for developers to port games onto vita from ps3... i am yet to see any, not to mention ones i am interested (gran turismo & race driver grid love plox)

seriously, if it atleast ran android, i could enjoy some emulators and stuff, but now... as useful as a 100$ bill in the middle of the desert.

why wouldn't you want gran turismo on ps vita? at least the price of 50£ would be justified for the game. also theres a lot of ps3 titles i'd play on vita. i got quite a few games i don't got time to play on ps3 but would love to on the move.

That may be the case, but I'd personally prefer that they concentrated on making new games for the Vita and just figured out how to get Remote Play working with PS3 games. I had kinda hoped more stuff on PSN would work on the Vita, but I could live with playing everything through Remote Play.

The last thing we need is for the Vita to be filled up with crossplatform console ports. In fact the old news that Sony has tailored the dekit to this exact purpose still bugs me.

It's because since I own a PS3, I'd rather play those games on a HDTV with my PS3 than on the OLED screen of the PS Vita.
The Vita doesn't have the battery life to support true on-the-go gaming too. At least for me it doesn't.

i think they alrady planned for that in a way, some time within the next month or so Sony is supposed to release an external battery pack that adds another 1.5X the battery life, and if it just has USB output it should be the ultimate rapid charge battery for any usb device :P [pending you knock out the nubs in the entrance to the USB port (seing as the vita charger to begin with puts out 1.5 Amps while most standard phone chargers do about .6-.7 and some times a gread whole amp)]

Well in that case, I foresee myself receiving a rather large bill in the near future :creep:

what about design of the battery...? where will it attach? in place of the bumbs on sides of the back? cause theres a touch screen on its behind... not as easy as with a psp, or a DS where you can just slam it on the bottom...

also, i don't really have opportunities to play games on my ps3, so i'd love to give some good thrashing on gran turismo etc. which i cannot play on ps3, of course knowing sony, they will go for same price or more as the counterparts on ps3, so i will have to wait a bit, as not even in dreams am i gonna spend same money on same game that i already bought on my ps3 to play it on another of sony's gaming consoles, especially considering it would actually have less value (lesser textures, no pressure sensitive shoulder button for that sweet sweet throttle...).

i do understand your point of view, why want same game on vita when you can play it on your ps3 at home on a big TV, but for some of us, we'd love to duke it out on the go on the vita, as we don't have time/move around too much to actually get down to it at home...

and yes, vita does need more battery life, as i always need to check how much i got left... on my psp i got 2 batteries each giving me like 5hours of play time, i just swap em over and continue... why doesn't vita have swappable battery again...?

Isn't that kinda obvious? I have a Pandora battery (two of them actually) sitting in my drawer right now.

I mean I always wish for longer battery life on systems but I haven't found anything wrong with the Vita's battery life. It can last my a day of on-again-off-again gaming (like if I'm at school or something) just fine, and if I'm playing it for a long time at home, I'll just charge it when necessary.

I'd also just suggest turning brightness to minimum, I really can't tell the difference between minimum brightness and whatever the stock setting is. The screen's still vibrant, bright, and playable in small amounts of sunlight (aka glare).

i am always on minimum backlight... on vita there really isn't much difference between max backlight and min backlight... makes nearly no difference what so ever. i did get a screen protector which does help with glare a fair bit.

still vita is short by like 1hour of what i need :)

I wish they would add solar panels to the Vita so you could charge on the go while using It without an outlet, hell, wouldn't It be boss If the whole case was just one big solar panel that could be molded to shape with screens on It...If they could do that you might not even need a battery all the time.

@BigOnYa I had 4.89 hfw on super slim that was great, but when I got a new hard disk I forgot where the guide was and could only find a guide for 4.90 and its resources
  • S @ salazarcosplay:
@BigOnYa I think another reason to want to update is if the hfw is at the level of the fw
  • S @ salazarcosplay:
    you can sync trophies
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
You should update the 360 to newest dash before RGHing it yes. But not a big deal if you don't, you can install new dash/avatar updates after. It's just easier to do it auto online before, instead manual offline after.

@BigOnYa I wanted to ask you about your experience with seeing south park. Most of the people a bit younger like my younger brother and cousins that are a few younger than me that saw kids found south park funny because of the curse words, kids at school, that seemed like liking the show on a very basic level.

I could not quite have a in depth discussion of the show.

How was it for you? As an adult. What did you find the most interesting part about it. Did you relate to the parents of the kids and their situations. Was it satires, the commentary on society. The references on celebrities' and pop culture.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I remember seeing the very first episode back in the day, and have watched every episode since. I used to set my VCR to record them even, shows how long ago.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I just like any comedies really, and cartoons have always been a favorite of mine. Family guy, American Dad, Futurama, Cleveland Show, Simpsons - I like them all.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
South Park is great cause they always touch on relavent issues going on today, and make something funny out of it.

  • S @ salazarcosplay:
@BigOnYa were you always up to date on the current events and issues of the time or were there issues that you first found out thru south park
