Hacking My friends G6 DS real

my friend turned on his DS this morning and realized his DS wasn't reading his G6 anymore, i asked him to plug it in the computer and try to format it or something but the darned thing won't be recognized through the card reader.

Any ides on how i may be able to help him, and possibly not offer to buy a new one

You have to format it through the DS, not the computer. Hold down the start button after turning on the DS to get to the format option.

when the card reader isnt being read i've found that if you go to device manager and go to pretty much the only one with ! right next to the name and uninstall it its usually the card readers slot thats not being recognized, if you do that and remove the card reader and then put it in, it'll do the "found new hardware" and everything and then in about 20-30 seconds recognize it if not sooner

it finds the USB but it won't install the drivers for it, therefore it won't show a extra drive for the G6

-edit:

everytime i tried to load the G6 on my ds it blackscreens and won't load further, after i formatted the card everything seems to be fine again.....this seems to have fixed the problem for now...but i have no idea if it might ever happen again or how it ever happened in the first place. I think the best piece of advice i can give my friend is to backup all his saves every now and again, thats what i do.

if anyone know why it blackscreened in the first place, i'd love to know

Was he trying to load homebrew at all? I've found that this is normally an issue for me (messes with the memory)

Huh? It can do it by itself if you hold start on bootup (G6 anyway)
