Seconded. I mean, even if that was the case, why the hell steal a chocolate bar? Wouldn't be want something more filling? Either way it's wrong...

But yeah, you handled that situation really well. I would never have the patience to run a convenience store like that... I would expect 1 or 2 robberies a week where I live. >_>

Chicago = terrible crime rate...

I think you handled it pretty well, considering the guy gave back the chocolate bar?
Reminds me of a similar situation where a friend of mine saw this guy trying to steal a baguette at Longo's by sticking it in his pants... he reacted quite similarly but ran away with the bread.

Well, besides that I agree with the behaviour of the OP, it's really funny to read such a thread on a site full of game pirating people.
Remember, if you pirate games, you are not better than the chocolate guy.

I have recreated the scene to make my point clear:

Me: Delete the game you just downloaded from warez site X.
Douche: What?
Me: I saw you downloading a DS game and the screen of your jDownloader proves that.
Douche: That's my backup of my own purchased game.
Me: Oh really? So you are trying to say, that you backuped your "purchased" game with jDownloader?
Douche: What are you talking about, why are you trying to prohobit my right to backup my game?
Me: What!? Me trying to prohobit you any right, the screen of jDownloader cleary says "Lufia_Curse_of_the_Sinistrals_USA_NDS-iND.rar"
Douche: Bro I'll fuck you up.
- So now he's given up on the pirated game because he knows he's wrong and starts threatening me thinking I'm scared.
Me: Come, I'm standing right here.
Douche: No come outside, if I hit you here, people will look at my monitor and recognize my pirated game.
Me: So you've just admit it dumb ass.
Douche: ...

- So he deleted the pirated game, walking out, sweating and shitting bricks.

Besides the total randomness of the community I also agree with what you did. You were really brave and smart about the situation and it is disappointing to see people like that. Honestly I am surprised it was over a chocolate bar. I used to work at 7 Eleven and the guy tried to steal a pen. Literally a pen. He took it out of the packaging and everything behind the aisle but there was a mirror and a camera and I saw the whole thing. I told him to leave it on the counter and to leave and never come again. Banned the bastard.

Never seen him since. Situations like that teach you how to defend yourself or act in another future situation though. My brother got held at gun point once and he acted calmly. I don't want to go into it but he was lucky to get out of it alive.

Pens, chocolate bars, people try to steal anything they can get their dirty hands on. It's a shame.

Well the difference is that the games belong to extremely wealthy companies, while the chocolate bar belongs to a small family trying to become wealthy.
