To fix it, I would have to import a full replacement case for my DS Lite and take all the hassle of installing it. However, I was going to buy a DSi once it is released. I believed it would be less troublesome to just import a DSi, especialy as I wanted a white one. Could you please tell me the issues of doing this?

DSis are region locked, so you won't be able to download DSiWare for your region.

And you'll be also stuck to Japanese as the System's language (iirc).

If it's under warranty, just send it in.
By the time you get it back the DSi will be coming out and you can do a trade-in deal for one. I hear a store called GAME is letting you get one half-price if you bring in a DS Lite.

They won't fix it if he dropped it. The warranty doesn't cover "accidents" like that, only hardware failure.
@ the op: Just wait til april 5th, much less hassle.
