I feel better now than when I first got the news. I hope the other people around me will hold up as well as me at least. My Dad, sister, granny, and girlfriend are all pretty sad and missing him.

PS: My sister is like, 15. Shame on you guys.

Did you see my Rebecca Black poll awhile back? Trust me, it can't get any worse than that with how people were interpreting it. I won't comment on your attractive sister though because I'm a good person!

See what I did there?

Seriously though, good to know that you're doing better.

I had a dog for 14 years. Whenever I pulled into the driveway, he could tell it was me by the sound of the engine (he had excited-sounding barks for car engines of family members, and angry barks for cars he didn't recognize). I would hear his barking before I opened the door, and when I stepped in the house he would stand on his hind legs and put his front paws on me and wag his tail. He would always greet me when I came home, every single day without fail.

Even after he passed away from old age, I would come home half-expecting to hear his bark and half-expecting him to be at the door waiting for me with his tail wagging. But I never heard his bark and he never greeted me again. After being used to 14 years of his faithful "doorman service" I always felt like I was coming back to an empty home after he died.

Sorry to hear it, Schlupi. I do feel your pain

I'm sorry for what happened. I hope the best for you, your family and you deceased dog.

My parents never allowed any pets, due to the fact that we move/vacate around a lot, so I really can't feel the grief you're feeling right now. But because of all of the moving and such, I've had to say farewell to many of my friends' pets (which I built up close bonds to), although it's nothing compared to what you and your family are feeling right now.

I'm also 15

Sorry to here that, don't know you to well. i remember when my first dog died. my father was stationed in Germany, an we had gotten an irish setter. we had him for a good 10 yrs. before we had to put him to sleep, he had gotten cancer on his snout. i think my old man had a worse time with it then i did. then i had gotten a German Sheppard, know he was my best friend, couldn't ask for a better dog. i remember taken him to the vet for his shots, three weeks later, he started to chew his own leg off, come to find out he had cancer in his knee joint. so had to put him to sleep. could not stand to see him suffer. now, we (wife an me) went to a shelter, an saved a full doxie, sweet as can be. but we also brought home a 8 week old flame point,(Siamese) they were the best of friends, my son named her phoenix. cause of her colors. two weeks ago, she had gotten out, my son had seen her sitting across the street under a big shade tree. he went out to get her, an she came running. as soon as she got middle way, a dumb ass kid, speeding like they always do out in the country, ran over her in front of my 6yr. didn't stop just gave me the finger an kept driving off. so i do know how you feel. i've felt the same way for two weeks, going on three. an i hate cats. but this one was special. even though i'm close to taking my own dirt nap . i do feel for anyone who has to deal with loosing anything that is living, pet family member or friend. an share your pain cause i've been through it, an now my son has to. sorry again for your pet.

Wow that's a sad story man, I barely can image what it's like because I've never had a dog or a cat.

Aww, I'm sorry dude.

I had to help bury one of my aunts dogs. All that I know, it had a heart murmur. One morning I woke up, my cousin asked where the dog was. Yep, he was on the chair. I found the dog dead a minute or two after I woke up that morning. I will never forget that day. I got attached to that dog.

Very sorry to hear about your loss Schlupi =(

A dog story of my own:
My best friend, Korry, who I have known since 3rd grade (I am entering my second year of college now) has had a boxer, Bruno, for a LONG time. Me and Korry, despite knowing each other virtually our whole lives only started hanging out when we were in freshman year of highschool.

I have been afraid of dogs most of my life. As I was younger I saw them as big, wild beasts that would jump at you, had claws and lots of teeth (and smelly breath). They intimidated me. The first time I saw Bruno he was the same way, a big crazy spazzy dog that would bark like nuts at a new face, jump all over you, and lick you everywhere. But Bruno was a goof. I slowly learned he wouldnt even chase a shadow out of fear the shadow would hurt him. He was such a gentle yet goofy dog.

2 months ago he started having seizures. They got progressively worse and more frequent. For those who don't know, boxers are quite prone to developing brain tumors that will induce seizures. Korry had been talking about putting him down for a few days at this point because of it.

I went to his house the day before it happened. I had known Bruno for 5 years now. Korry is like a brother to me, and Bruno was like my pet too. I gave Bruno one last hug, told him I was gonna miss him a lot, and started crying. He stood there, of course having no idea what was going on and started pawing me a bit. I just hugged him, then gave Korry a big bro-hug and left. The next day, I would never see him again.

Still miss that big goof :'(

Again, very sorry to hear about your loss Schlupi. My condolences to you and your family, I hope you can all make it through this with as little pain as possible.

Oh, and one last thing, man. You can't hate yourself for not spending much time with Pika lately. School does take up a LOT of time. It happens, dude. Remember all the fun memories with your dog, don't dwell too much on the fact that near the end you couldn't be with him as much as you would have wished.

Oh man I know how that feels. Our Golden Lab passed away in December, after Xmas, but before New Years. 14 years old. It's hard to lose a pet because they become a family member. They have their own little quirks to them that, once you don't see it anymore, you miss it.
