my broadband sucks what speed should i get?

    right now im using s*** ass 512kbs broadband and i was wondering what speed i should get.


    1)good surfing speeds
    2)able to downoad cd/dvd isos at decent speeds
    3)good connection

    could you suggest some companies (in the UK) that could give me a good connectiong a decent price thanks [​IMG]

    If you have Sky you can get 16Mbps unlimited for £10, which is the best deal I've come across for mah internetz.

    Your maxium connection speed is determined by the speed of and distance from your local exchange, if you live in a rural area for example you may only be able to get a 2 meg connection but if you live in a major city you could get a 24 meg connection.

    Most ips have a line check where you can type in your phone number and/or post code to give you an idea of what speeds your line is capable of.

    Skybroadband good package deal / poor connection.
    bt.com/broadband =support good / connection $uck.
    pipex.co.uk = ok company / limit downloads.
    bethere.co.uk = ADSL2 24mb excellent / contract poor.
    virginmedia.com = cable line the best / price tag high.
    ukonline.co.uk = price tag goods in some area / support $uck.

    Go for cable line! better then ADSL....

    We've got Virgin Media 10Mb at home and can pull a constant 1200KB/s off Giganews. Great service. Never had any problem with it. [​IMG]

    No speed caps, no throttling, no bandwidth limits...

    It is £35 a month though [​IMG]

    I heard in June 10Mb customers are being upgraded for free to 20Mb!

    im probably gunna have to go with ukonline.co.uk since it so cheap and my parents dont wanna spend so much money ([​IMG]) il make it look more expesive with all the router and connection fees [​IMG] still hoping that i get virginmedia broad band
